Parents not sitting young My first young seem to be doing very good but I am now worried, both parents are still feeding the young but are no longer sitting them. These squeakers are only 10 days old. Their feathers are just coming out of the sheaths. Is this normal or do I need to pull the babies and handfeed?--James
Re: Parents not sitting young Hey James, I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as they keep feeding them. By two weeks old they leave them by themselves for pretty good lenghths of time. If you're worried now, just wait until you're ready to let them out for the first time

Re: Parents not sitting young Well unfortunetly the parents didn't come back. They have taken over another nest, I have had my homers double nest but one parent always seems to stay with each nest and then trade off. One baby is dead the other just hanging on by a thread. I have it on a heating bad but it may me too late for that one as well. --James
