Separating Breeders

Well this weekend I finally separated my Orientals.. This year was certainly a "disaster" in the breeding section. Plus I did some remodeling and will do more for "next" season. That's it for me this year...

Some of us would like to know if you used the string and paper clip or the witch Dr.
I'd like to believe in the witch Dr. so she won't charge so much for us non believers.
Well, which one did you use and what % did you get right. Larry

How many youngsters did you end up with to fly,Paul?
I'm also lookin' to split all my pairs up pretty quick here.Don't have the space to do that and have them all out of sight and earshot of each other so will be keeping my fingers crossed the hens stop laying when I do put them in seperate pens.

Re: Separating Breeders

Larry....YES, I "do" use the paper clip/ thread method to pair my birds. That wasn't the problem though. I think it was my design for my breeding section. Or maybe my chickens that are housed in the next section to the FOR's. Iam looking at varies breeding lofts to see if I can get some "new" and "proven" designs....

Kelly....as for the Orientals I only got 4 youngsters out of 5 pr. That really "SUCKED"
Iam gona totally remodel their breeding section starting in the next few weeks or so. Hopefully I will some up with something that "suits" them better....LOL.
As far as for my "fireballs" out of 5 pr I got about 30 youngsters and from the 2pr of
Ruby's I got 8 young ones. It wasn't the best breeding season so I'll leave it at that....LOL I'll have enough to work with for the rest of this yr and next yr too..

Don't feel bad. I only have seven in my kit box out of 15 pairs. All kinds of bad luck here too.
