Michael... It sure couldn't get any worse then this year... I think I might take a pass on breeding next year and just work the birds I got this year....

Oye,that would be a hard thing for me to do,,take a pass on breeding season.Always some losses and birds passed on here and always have to see what you can produce each year.Gotta build that old bird team.

Kelly,
This is the time of yr. that its a good idea to have a few fake eggs around. So you can switch w/ those hens that want to keep going. Sure helps the weeks pass, before they lay anymore. And usually after 20 day or so, they've gotten over their old boy friend and wanting to have a family. emoticon For each egg the hen lays, I replace it w/a fake one. As ya know..., they can count... emoticon

Hah!They can count for sure.I've had them stop setting on just one egg many times.
Went out there at 5:30 this morning to find my pair of Doves have hatched their first set of eggs. They must be tiny but won't look for a while because they are so small and delicate.I love the song they sing emoticon And tame!!They really resent being held with their wings closed but they will stand free on my hand quite awhile. Can't beleive it,Laura wants me to build another loft like a pagoda for the Doves.Until I bought them this summer, she always complained whenever I built another kitbox or added onto the breeder loft but now she says "When are you going to build a special house for them, near the bedroom window?" emoticon
"Soon as I get the house painted,Honey." emoticon

Kelly....like your "wife" and the doves, my "wife" has been after me to build a new chicken house for "her" chickens. She went out and got 15, day old chicks last week.
Now,I know I "HAVE" to build a new place for them. Maybe moving her chickens out of "my" pigeon house will solve my breeding problem....LOL...at least I hope so.
