Re: Check out these Husband Tuffies
Thanks Kelly, and your right it’s a ‘k’ not a ‘c’. Lets not talk about memory, especially when it comes to bird diseases. (oh hell, ANY disease for that matter.) You all probably know the one I’m thinking of, it’s the one that causes the twisted head syndrome and usually starts w/ the babies heads/ beaks going up w/ a bit of a wobble, then it starts to twist around backwards. Anyway, that’s not something that comes from inbreeding, that‘s a disease.
On a better note, for those of you who (like Kelly & I) don’t have perfect/ photographic memory. I highly suggest a VERY inexpensive breeder/ pedigree program. And if you can make a note to take to your PC, just any kind of scratch will do, just something to remind you what you want to enter. You can keep excellent records in your program. Which, at the press of a button, you can bring up on your screen any and ALL info about your loft and each bird in it. It’s the old saying…, “if I can do it, you can do it too”. It’s a very simple program, that once you’ve got your background info in, all your doing is just adding info to it (from your notes) and presto you’ve got a record of ALL your birds and loft info. It’s called “KinTraks Animal Database” at Kintraks.com. For a free trial, that later can be converted into a registered program to you for future up-dates (again for free) check it out.
I don’t know what I would do w/o it. It works for any and all animals. You can even keep separate databases for different breeds/ animals on the same program. Keeps all your pedigree info, plus a pic of that bird to be printed out on your selection of your favorite pedigree format. Keep records of each birds, health, medications given, mating info, journal on each bird, stock sold and to whom, finance records, contacts list, reminders calendar as well as show records. And if you can’t seem to do your regular back ups for safeties sake (in case of a PC crash), you can (at the press of a button) do your programs back-up to an on-line back up system at Kintraks.com. And if you need help at any time for any reason, the owner-designer can be reached quickly by e-mail. He’s a really nice young family man down in Australia. I know…, I’ve talked to him on the phone….
But don’t take my word (or salesmanship) for it, check it out yourself, get with the PROGRAM….. (for free):thumbs.up:

What's the name of that disease again,,, when their head twists backwards? The head twisting backwards never happened, just looking sraight up and not being fed because of it.Nestmates were fine. Both times it was smaller than the nestmate to begin with and hatched out second and late, like a full day behind.Haven't seen it pop up with any of my other 160 birds.

Re: Check out these Husband Tuffies
They can get the twisted neck from both paratyphoid and paramyxovirus,it's just more often a symptom of pmv.
