E-mail of interest.
I received this e-mail this evening and am posting here for anyone interested.
Dear Sirs/Madames
Please accept my apologies for this group email.
The Lafayette College Art Galleries in Easton, Pennsylvania is presenting an exhibition, "From Scales to Feathers: The Evanescent Presence of Sculpted Wings" in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" this coming November. The centerpiece will be photographs taken by Brandon Ballengee of pigeon specimens which were in the collection of Darwin. Darwin bred, studied, collected pigeons skins to study while formulating his theory of natural selection. He gave his collection to the National Museum of Natural History in London, which is where Ballengee photographed the specimens. This exhibition is presented in conjunction with the Shrewsbury Museum in Shropshire, England (birthplace of Darwin).
In addition to the photographs of Darwin's specimen the artist is planning to show photographs and videos of pigeons submitted by the public. These images will be presented on computer monitors installed as "windows" on a pigeon coop replica.
1) If your website includes a photo gallery, how might we obtain permission to use some of the photographs and/0r
2) I would appreciate if you could pass this information to anyone who might be interested. There is a submission deadline of October 10. Details of how to submit materials are included in the attached pdf "Call" and on the link to the gallery webpage:
