Re: Indigo
You need Ash Red to produce Ash Red. Ash Red cannot be carried or produced from any other color factors but Ash Red.
Andalusian is simply Spread Indigo or Black Indigo. It has to be Black, it cannot be Black Check. You can get a small percentage of Andalusians by breeding any Indigo to a Black.
Picture one is too dark for me to tell what color it is.
Picture two is an Andalusian and a bird that's too dark to tell.
Picture three is an Andalusian.
I do not see any Ash Reds in these pictures.

Re: Indigo
WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU CALL THESE 2 BIRDS?
THEY ARE MOSTLY WHITE NOW AND THE BIRD TO THE FAR RIGHT IS NOW WHITE WITH ABOUT 6 RED FEATHERS.THESE CHANGES CAME AFTER THEIR RECENT MOLT.

Re: Indigo
I don't know because there's so little color in the birds. If I had to guess, I would say they are both Almond Grizzles. What breed are they?

Re: Indigo
They would have to be Almond Grizzles. I call them light Almonds. When you mate them to a self colored bird you should get some nice Tiger Grizzles

Re: Indigo
Thanks Alan,
I have my best looking grizzle[blk and white] cоck mated with the bird above[almond grizzle hen] and was hopeing to get grizzles but so far the feathering of their babies don't look good for grizzles.I remember you telling me they were almond but they lost their colors.both birds are terrific flyers in fact ,all the fehrolz are great flyers.
Nick,
i too love them mottled and grizzled birds and thats what im striving for.Im amazed at how much a bird changes appearance after the molt.it looks like they molt the color feathers only.Right now i have 11 babies just feathering out.I'll keep you posted.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.
Im having homer squab instead of turkey this year.[gotta reduce somehow]

Re: Indigo
To get the best Tiger Grizzles always mate a Tiger Grizzle to a solid colored bird. If you mate them to one another they will get whiter and whiter. Tiger Grizzle is a dominate, so when mated to a solid colored bird, half of all the babies will be Tiger Grizzles.. and they will have more color on them than white, which is what you want.

Re: Indigo
OK ALAN,THANKS FOR THE ADVISE.I'LL BREAK THE PAIRS UP WHEN THE BABIES ARE OLD ENOUGH AND PUT THEIR SECOND SET OF EGGS UNDER HOMERS TO HATCH OUT.
ALSO;I WANT TO GIVE SOME OF THE OTHER BREEDERS A REST.CAN I PUT THEM BACK IN THE SEPERATE KITS THEY CAME OUT OF AND FLY THEM AGAIN?
I DON'T WANT ANYMORE YOUNGSTERS THAN I ALREADY HAVE UNTIL ABOUT MARCH AND IM ANXIOUS TO SEE THE FEHROLZ FLYING AGAIN.
THANKS
