They seem to really like the hog pellets too. I mixed the pellets in with the old food and they picked the pellets out! I hope the uniform pellets will discourage picky eating.

Re: feeding I do use hay for nesting and the pigeons used to really get into it. I guess they get bored. Right now, they will go absolutely nuts over the fresh greens. It is funny to watch. The big male racer I got from Alan especially loves them.
Re: feeding I put some dandelions in with my birds today. Like mentioned before, they did go nuts over them. My lawn is covered with dandelions, so there is no shortage of free greens for them. When does it become to much of a good thing to give them greens? How often should they have them?
Re: feeding As far as having picky eaters.... What ever grains are left in the feed trough, are their until they are all eaten. Slowly the birds realize they must eat everything before anything else is added.. I have experimented with adding grains to the pellets. It seems to break up the boredom of just plain pellets. Now they eat everything in site.
And once aweek I add a wedge of lettice to every bird section and well as a bath pan.
