Re: Fehrholtz hen wanted
Amir, Ken said he is looking for a barred Fehrholz hen. Barred is very rare in the Fehrholz birds. The only ones I have seen came from Dennis Radi and I couldn't tell they were barred because there was so many other factors involved. Dennis wrote an article in one of the old newsletters entitled, "Where have all the Bars gone in the Fehrholz birds?"

Re: Fehrholtz hen wanted
Sorry Ken,I don't have any or I'd help you out. I have had almond Fehrholz that show very good bars until they molt, then you can just barely see them.

Re: Fehrholtz hen wanted
Hey, thanks for all the help. I don'thave any bared Fehrholtz but was wanting to get started. My old buddy Mike Mooring (returnee to rollers)said after it cools off the P.O. will start shipping for him So maybe I'll get lucky.

Re: Fehrholtz hen wanted
In a nut-shell, Dennis said the bars in the Fehrholz are there, but there are so many other factors involved you can't even tell. The other factors are Sooty, Verdunkel, Spread, Almond, Kite, Undergrizzle, Recessive Red, Recessive White, Mottle etc. All of these will mask the bar pattern from showing. Dennis was on a bar pattern project and the results weren't what you would expect. One was an Almond and the other a Blue Bar. But there was so much Sooty and Verdunkel in the Blue, you would have to have a trained eye in order to know that bird was barred. I have never seen one in Dennis' loft or mine that looked like a straight Blue Bar, though I am sure I have had many Bars, I just didn't know it.
