White bird update.
I have been flying or should say training the Husband white squeak for a month now. When I broke up the kits by strain I couldnt decide where to put him. So I flew him with each line I have and even with the Galati's. I believe the Galati's are really close to the OR because thier flying style is very close and thier performance is similar and they too have no vestigial oil gland. I flew him today with my Barred line and he flies exactly like them and flew his best with them. He started tail riding today and I believe he is going to roll. Time will tell.

Now you got me wondering about mine. I hate to have to eat them all.
How are you coming with the Galati's anyway.

Re: White bird update.
Bob the Galati's will fly with anything. I flew the black hen I sent you with OR's all her life. They will though make the Birms fly faster and not roll as good. They are great for teaching birds to kit though. They will swoop down and pick up the out birds.

Sippi,I was going through a bunch of old vhs tapes I have and found one from Jim Green. He showed one of his kits of young Husband birds. Buffs,Tuffs, cinamon and two white birds. The white birds were doing pretty good in the air nothing real deep, but pretty frequent rolls. Nick

Re: White bird update.
Dale told me they were comp birds which means they wont be deep but frequent.
I can make deep that seems to be easy for me. I just need the roll.

quote: could have said B rollers but with what is going on the other forum,s Iwill not post the B word. If I do some one will come up with the (M) word .
I just responded to that backwards ignorance I seen in the other forum you are talking about regarding the "B" word and the "M" word. This stuff is so ignorant they would be laughed out of the genetics forum by these guys with phd's in genetics. The sad part is they are breeding nothing but grudges, bitterness and division with such ignorance. I hate to use those words but I can't think of a kinder description.

Re: White bird update.
Well, the debate is if a Birmingham Roller (B word) is a Birmingham Roller if somewhere in it's ancestry someone used another breed to transfer a color gene into the B. Roller. Even if it was 20 or 30 generations ago and back-crossed with BR's that many generations and no matter how good the bird performs, these extremists contend that it is no longer a true B. Roller, it's a Mongrel (M word).
They contend that the only "true" BR's are Blue Checks, Blue Bars and Ash Reds, with or without Grizle and Pied and everything else are Mongrels and don't deserve the name Birmingham Roller.

Re: White bird update.
I was just reading something along those lines in an article about German FORS.It said"If the colour is not in the standard it can't be exhibited."Experimental Colours" go in Assessment Classes with no prizes;they must be"Breed typical" for type/form from the very first assessment. This in itself can take 5 to 7 years of breeding to get to that standard if a "cross" has been used. The assessment period, depending on the consistent quality of the birds exhibited, takes generally 3 to 5 years before being considered for admission to the breed standard."
