Re: Full Moon

Something that has helped me get Birms in after dark, do to over fly or bop attack, I have a flood light mounted high that shines down on my lofts, I have left it on a number of times to show the birds the way home in the dark. Yes I have had some late nighters with the full moon, they don't want to come in, its like they are confused. Some thing else that helps my birds know where home is, my loft roofs are different colors, so with a flood light on them they can't miss it. I have not had this problem with ORs yet, knock on wood.

Re: Full Moon

I got a phone call tuesday from a lady in n.carolina.she said she had one of my birds with my personal band on it.I gave her the the phone # of 1 of our members who i had given the bird to.I hear back from the lady that he came and got the bird but im curious to what bird it was and wasit a overfly or attack that got it missing in the first place.
I tried getting in touch with this person as he is a member but my mail was returned. If you read this ,please respond of what happened.Your lucky that the lady went out of her way for you and nice enough to notify me.
thanks

Re: Full Moon

Mike....The 3 kelly's took a while to take off to the air but once they did I have to say I was impressed....that was the first time I saw a roller roll by the way....I flew them everyday up untill that hawk atack.......since them i gave them a break and I will not be flying them for a while.....I am flying my homers and I am getting atacked everyday by hawks....it is unreal....I never had a hawk problem like this before.....I even flew the orme birds that i got from you...I have not seen them do much.....as the matter of fact the orme hen is the one that nearly died in that hawk atack....she fully recovered....because of space shortage I will not be breading out of the orme for a while.....good luck with your birds and thank you again .............Silviu Constantin

Re: Full Moon

Constintin,
i was hoping that the kellys would do something for you and i knew if they did, it would take a while longer. As for the orme pair;they were an older mated pair which i raised 4 sets of babies from[mostly cream bars and redbars].Im surprised the orme pair flew at all after being in the breeder pen so long by me[over a year].Mark Orme never told me the age of them but they were very good breeders and i been flying several of their babies since last year. They are very easy to train and work with as others it seemed but once they get flying its a whole new ballgame.I been very impressed by their flying times and performance.
Take a ride over again one day and i'll have them put on a show for you.you won't believe your eyes.i guaranteeze it !!!
I fly everything with wings on sundays and lately been holding them back due to the migration but it kills me to not fly anything.
Thanks for the update and you know your always welcome to stop by [in the daytime, this time]lol and make sure you bring an empty cage.never know what you might see and can't live without...
later,
