Re: First time in four years
Mike they sound like a pair of Peris to me. they are the only black looking ones around here. They look black and white when up high and black when on the ground or in a tree.

Don't think the Peregrines will take a squirrel out of a tree.Could be though, anythings possible.

Re: First time in four years
Im tryin Nick,im tryin but they aren't too photographic lately, plus we are getting hit with a thunderstorm now.i did manage to sneak in a fly this morning A+ and not a single BOP but there obviously was one out there.Heres signs that tell me of a BOP in the area.My homers stayed indoors,The guinea started making racket and all the Bantams headed for the barn at a high level of noise and speed.
Check out my new website.i just put some new pics of the babies i raised this year and youngsters some that just hatched out.I think the feed contains viagra this year because i already raised well over a dozen fehrholtz, husbands[seperately] and another line of babies from 08 birds.

Re: First time in four years
Nice website Mike.I see why you're called yankeemike with all them stars and stripes and fireworks!Do you trim the Fantails feathers at all for breeding?Just wondering as I have one pair of white indians. Also, they are bro/sis.Do you think it would hurt to inbreed them?

Re: First time in four years
hello kel,
no,i don't trim the muffs or tails on the white indian fans.i let them do their thing and they seem to breed with no problems at all.im not sure about bro/sis breeding and im sure its happened but not intentionally.I raised about 20 solid whites this years and some are already paired up and laying.I wanted to donate a pair to the auction but didn't meet the deadline.i know there was a few people wanting them.
later,
mike
p.s.-i noticed the fans like to lay eggs on the ground rather than the boxs so i been useing homers to hatch and raise the fans.

Re: First time in four years
WELL;
My luck has run out.I lost 4 birds in a weeks time.Today i was showing a friend how the FOR flew and tossed up my last kelly or.It went about 50' up before a BOP had it in its talons.I scared it off and it dropped the bird leaving it with puncture marks on its side and belly. Its alive and might make it unlike the 3rd. fehrholz that got taken away by a coopers yesterday.
I CAN NO LONGER SAY THAT BOPS DON'T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST FOR'S which i know is not a fact.I won't be flying anything for a while because the BOP'S are very hungry and plentiful now.I am thankful for all the action the FOR's provided until this week.It was very amusing to watch the BOP'S miss their targets too but they zeroed in on them this week.THAT WASN'T AMUSING!!!
ITS TIME TO BREED LIKE HELL !!!!and try again in april or when things cool down.
Good luck to all that are able to fly
sincerely,
