Re: Loft Visitor I was going to release him where I work. But, I was afraid that the owl may have eggs or fledglings in the nest. So, I let it go. I know, I am just asking for more trouble. But, owls are cool and they aren't nearly the trouble as the hawks are (when they don't get in the loft).
Re: Loft Visitor Owls are good to have around, they eat rats small opposums young coons, and my bumb birds that don't want to go in the loft at night. And they don't like Hawks. Michael, Sorry about your loss
Re: Loft Visitor GIVE-UM-HELL KELLY!!!! TELL HIM;FIX THAT DOOR OR YOU'LL BE DOWN THERE YOURSELF TO DO IT... The sad part of poor Michaels killing incident is that the owl just killed the birds and didn't eat them? I think if it had eggs or babies somewhere,it would of ate some of them and worried about getting out of the loft later on.you did the most humane thing to do but the owl knows where to come for food now.hope kelly secures your loft tight.
I too had a few encounters with owls.In fact we raised 2 sets of babies that were brought to me by some loggers. We fed them emu meat and they stayed around for 2 years but never killed a pigeon. They would eat baby chicks out of the shell at hatching time and eventually they moved on.
