I try to plan around a specific date: "when leafs on trees come out", BOPs should be migrated and nesting, smol animals extend menu. My goal is to have young birds, no older than 8 weeks at that time to train. Some birds are late developers but if they are not and you miss the window you will newer know. End of season is usualy when migration and hibernation starts. At that time I sould not have bird younger than 12 weeks.
Breeding year around puts a lot of birds in breeding before they get in air.

Yeah,these winter hatch birds I'm flying now might just end up in the breeder loft before too long.Already 2 have gone in there.

It was indeed a Merlin. I saw another one again today up close. Looked it up in my bird book. They are FAST!!!!

If you see a Merlin hit and grab a pigeon,often you can chase them off as it is rare for a Merlin to be able to fly away with a pigeon but will instead grab it and ride it to the ground where it will kill it and eat.If you see him go down with a bird,right like crazy towards it and you might be lucky and chase it off before much damage is done.
