Roof sitter eaten...

Was riding my mountain bike home today and as I many times do had open loft for the birds before I left. As I'm coming down my street in my neighbors front yard is a big female coopers having lunch on a red tuff hen. Anyways went into my house and spied on her with my binoculars. Was quite gruesome to watch but at the same time fasinating. She started on the head all the while plucking feathers then she kepted looking around for danger. Some time later I looked in on the birds to see which one it was. It was a problem hen I had that always wanted to sit on the neighbors roof and was slow to go in etc. Guess she wont be doing that any more...Bruce.

Was coming back from a 2 hour cruise and was tired etc. Once I got into the house thought to myself well the bird is dead might as well take the oportunity to see what the hawk does when it sits down for a meal, and lets not forget the preperation of the meal. Was like watching the food network for hawks. grin.......Was quite intersting though as Ive never had the oportunity to witness and observe an almost complete feeding on one of my birds before. But for sure quite gruesome...
Bruce.

Few months ago, when hawk catch one of the birds and started to eat it on my backyard, my 10 years old daughter run outside, and tried to scare that bastard. She's was screeming so loud so hawk took off and pure pigeon, half alive, escape. Pigeon survived, missing one of wings. its become very tame and kids love to play with him now.

I can't understand "why" you would let out your birds and then leave the area??? You don't seem to be surprised... to find that a hawk would dine at a "FREE" lunch??.
