Kelly and Nelson birds

Has anyone besides Carlisle actually proven the Kelly birds? The same question can be asked of John Nelson's birds. I would like to hear from people that have flow these strains. I am now breeding some Kelly birds to fly out, just to prove them, if to no one else, to myself. I sold all my Nelson birds before I could fly them and I have not flown the Kelly birds enough to make a personal judgement.

I had some Nelson Blacks, or let me clarify that they were supposed to be Nelson's. They were good looking birds but would fly but didnt roll. I culled them. I may not have flown them long enough back then.

Some of Nelson's first blacks and reds came from George DelaNuez, maybe thats what you had? I had that line from Orme and they didn't do much more than tumbles, tailslides and shallow rolls. They were the best looking ORs I've ever seen,Jet black and a deep rich dark red.Pretty much all show and no go. emoticon

I well could have Nick. The De la Nuez birds were strictly German show birds. As pretty of blacks as I have ever seen but as you said no go.

Yesterday a march '08 kite cоck started at speck high and some 10 seconds later at tree level puled out and climb back again, it was mix of everithing on the way down. It is a mix primirily of "Nelson's INPORT" and other uncertain origin birds.

My question is how you atach name to birds. Such as "Nelson" "Orme" ...etc? In my opinion to atach name we should talk about hundred(s) of birds produced in ones loft easily distinguised from main streem.

Breeders and retailers shouldn't be put in same bracket.

Hi Samir,I think when people are talking about "Nelson" birds they mean the birds he imported from Germany.

It's actually unfair to the birds to lump all birds that have come from Nelson together as "Nelson birds" but I don't know what else to call them. From what I understand Nelson bought out George De La Nuez of his German imports (non Fehrholz birds) AND he imported birds multiple times himself from Holland and Germany. These could have came from multiple lofts, and be birds of a wide variety of abilities.

The birds from Holland came from Michael Fens,John says that both the Fens birds and his German imports are good performers.I was going to get 2 pair of each and sent a deposit, but then ended up in the hospital for surgury before we set up a shipping date.I tried to cut the order to just the 2 pair of Fens birds and he never answered any of my emails.I told him it was my fault and to keep the deposit and still no answer(But he kept the deposit,LOL!!!) emoticon Oh well,I have a feeling the Fehrholz are better performers any way. emoticon Nick
