Re: Feather legs???? The feathered legs/ feet that some talk about popping up in some lines/ strains of ORs, must come from the Turkish Tumblers. Just goes to show how a gene can travel on for years/ centuries, after an outcross takes place. That is unless breeders continue to use such feathered feet in a breeding program. Shame..., not to use a good flyer.., but...
Click here http://www.turkishtumblers.com/Takla1.htm to read and learn more about the Takla (Turkish Tumbler), and how they traveled west across Asia w/ the nomadic Turks. IMO, and from all accounts I have found, there were NO feathered leg/ feet in the Kurdish/ Kurdistan rollers (Buff & Tuff). And not in the Turkish/ Turkistans until after the 11th or 12th century. And of course the OR was already in central Asia when the nomadic Turks got there. And since the Turkistan line is the one that went west into Europe/ Germany, it makes sense that the Ferholz could/ would carry the feathered feet. See pictures at the above link.
Have a good fly day….
