Norman Parade Development in Royal Park

Doesn anyone know what was finally approved for the redevelopment of Norman Parade on Maylands Drive?

The last news I heard was that plans were refused for the flats/one shop because of lack of parking spaces in relation to the number of flats they proposed.

However work started on tearing down the old houses/shops this week and I don't know what it going to go there instead...

Anyone know anything or can tell me where I could go to find out?

Thanks emoticon

You can contact the Royal Park Association, if you haven't done so already. David Hildred at the church can provide you with a contact person who might know the latest, I would like to know myself!
Thanks

Re: Norman Parade Development in Royal Park

Just did a quick Internet search and found this information but I'm not sure if is still relevant (it was written back in December 2005):

Norman Parade development goes ahead
The council have caved in to the redevelopment of 1-9 Norman Parade having refused permission just a short while ago. The developers have resubmitted their plans which now include some ‘affordable housing’ to be let through a housing association.
The present site is occupied by nine shops and flats and will be replaced by a three and four storey buildings which will dwarf the immediate area with twenty single bedroom, seventeen two bedroom and two three bedroom flats and one retail shop an amenity area and 39 parking places. Twelve of the flats will be rented and twenty seven sold.
Although the council have completed a ‘U turn’ on this development they have chosen to keep very quiet regarding replacing the Royal Park Youth Club they sold off for housing but promised to replace.
The only difference from the original application is there are five less flats and four more car parking spaces. Nine letters from residents supported the scheme and five letters of objection were received.

This development is practically completed now - and it is a 3 storey block of flats.
Just waiting for the convenience store that has been included to open-up.

Whoever takes the penthouse will have an amazing view over to The Meadows!
