I'm glad you came here. And this Romanian learning thing is a good idea! Here is the answer for your question:

I=Eu
Me=Mine
He=El
She=Ea
It=El or Ea
We=Noi
They=Ei

All over where you see [e], you read it as in [men]
All over where you see [u ], you read it as in [out]
All over where you see [i ], you read it as in [invisible]
All over where you see [o], you read it as in [or]
All over where you see [a], you read it as in [cut]

What do you say? Will you continue?

Ok so if I wanted to say

My name is...Zenas

I would say... Mine...é...Zenas?

More! on the teaching. I love trying to learn other languages. I took French in 10th and I speak, read, and write Portguese fluantly. Well sort of. lol

Romanian doesn't seem to hard.

Dear Zenas,
I apologize for being so late in answering you. I'm very busy around here.

If you want to say "My name is...Zenas", you will say:

"Numele meu este ...Zenas." or "Ma' cheama' ...Zenas."
("a'" is an "a" with a hat on top of it and you say it as in "bird".)

If I want to ask you "What's your name?", I will say: "Cum te cheama'?"

If you already know french, it will be easy for you to learn Romanian, because they are related - they have a latin base.

So, what about some numbers?
1 - unu
2 - doi
3 - trei
4 - patru
5 - cinci (you don't read "ci" like in "see", but like in "cheat" )
6 - s,ase (I wrote "s," for an s with a comma under it - you read it "sh" like in "shape" )
7 - s,apte
8 - opt
9 - noua'
10 - zece (you read "ce" like in "Chesterfield" )

What do you think now?

Interesting and it's easy to understand. It's not really that hard. Might take it up sometime like a new hobby. I took French but I had no teacher, just tapes. But Portuguese is similar to French and French to Romanian so...thanks! That really helped. Now...

Mother=Mama' (The mother=Mama) (My mother=Mama mea)
Father=Tata' (The father=Tata or Tata'l) (My father=Tata'l meu)
Sister=Sora' (The sister=Sora) (My sister=Sora mea)
Brother=Frate (The brother=Fratele) (My brother=Fratele meu)
Friend=Prieten (The friend=Prietenul) (My friend=Prietenul meu)

Here, don't forget how you read the vowels and the group "ce" (see above)

How=Cum
Why= De ce
What=Ce
Where=Unde
When=Ca^nd

There is a new vowel here I didn't tell you about before: a^. This is again an "a" with a hat, but this hat "doesn't hold water" emoticon. (The first one I told you about "holds water".) It's hard for me to tell you how you say this sound. No english word comes in my mind that uses it. It's similar with the sound you have in the french word "deux".


P.S. I changed the language of the board to Romanian. I hope this doesn't hinder you too much. emoticon

Thanks for your help...it's hard when you want to reach out to others but you can't speak or type a word of their language. Thanks and I will try and practice it frequently. School's a bit hectic so you might not see me on often, but I will try and stop by and drop a line here and there. If you can think of anything else...little common day to day stuff...and maybe translate the subjects that you have listed...that would be helpful! Thanks!!!

Hy! didn't write here lately... Here there are the names of the forums as they show up on the first board's page. You can post as you please in any of the sections - there are many Romanians who read English. So if you have any good idea or you find any good article somewhere, just post it where it belongs.

Sufragerie means Living Room (this is the main chat room - all kind of subjects: life, religion, hobby, so on)

Umărul prietenului means The friend's shoulder (for people who seek consolation)

Clubul fetelor means The girls' club (Girls write here about their stuff)
---------------------------------
Clubul familiştilor means The family's club (talking about family, kids, so on)
---------------------------------
The next section is about/for/with preachers. It is called Clubul Predicatorilor which means the Preachers' Club and it has the following forums:

Dezbateri means Debates (discussions on different subjects)
---------------------------------
Ajutor pentru predicator means Help for the preacher (ideas, advices for preachers)
---------------------------------
Predici, Citate, Proverve means Preaching, Quotes, Proverbs (here you put or comment something)
---------------------------------
The next section is with/for/about people who left from Romania and live in other countries it is called:

Diaspora and I don't know how to put this in English emoticon

The next section is about Computer Stuff:

Tot felul (legate de PC) means Anything (regarding PC) (hardware, software)

The last section is The English one and that one doesn't need to be translated emoticon
