God/Goddess and beliefs

So in Wiccan religion are we allowed to believe in an actual goddess or god? Or is it just the All? I'm confused on that point.

Re: God/Goddess and beliefs

Yep, you sure can.

The All, or Supreme Being, or Spirit, or whatever you want to call it, is the essence of what we worship/believe in. The God and Goddess are expressions of this All, symbols and archetypes that help us to understand the infinite and limitless concept of "All," but that does not in any way make them any less real or actual. They are entities, and complementary to each other.

At least, that's what I learned in my tradition. There are some Wiccans who strictly believe in the God and the Goddess, two distinct deities, and don't do the "All" step. Neither theology is wrong, for they are rooted in the same basic truth.

Hope that helps.

Yes that helps. Now I'm sorta just figuring out what to believe in really. I'm leaning more towards a belief in the All. It just seems right to me.

Hi Alexander,

Ariawn explained this pretty well. We believe in both a Goddess and God, combined their energies unite and can be called "The All." This same energy is sometime referred to as "The Spirit."

It takes time to really decide how you chose to see the divine. We all sense energy differently and relate to different ideas of a higher power.

Take your time you have no rush emoticon
