Re: Post your answers here.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
The E3 free beta. I like the instanced areas and PVP action, I dislike the level cap at 20.
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it ?
Plenty...
My first guilds were on MUD's and that is probably where I had the best experiences.
I like working together as a team, helping and being helped to acquire things that would take a lot longer and the general camaradarie. The thing I dislike about some guilds are the internal power struggles. I am in a guild now on GW, it is OK but only has 6-7 members.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
WTF is HeEt?
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
One of my online GW friends told me about you.
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
A lot.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
I plan on playing maybe 10 hours a week but I am an addict.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
I have a W/Ne13 and a Mo/Me7 or so, I plan on making an E and an R primary not sure on the secondaries.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
If it was someone in my guild doing it I would have words with them, if it was an outsider I would tell my mate to ignore it.
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
Yourmama Destructo
Yourmonko Destructo
...
My son plays as Webler Destructo
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
Nope
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
Mildly, it is fun to have a high ranking but that isn't my goal in finding an online community.

Re: Post your answers here.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
- Primarily, the subscription model or lack thereof. I have a strong personal opposition to paying for a game off the shelf and then paying again for the right to play it. So far, I'm very pleased with the ability to get started in the game solo, and pick up the social aspects later. I haven't run across anything I particularly dislike about the game yet, but I still have a fair amount of it ahead of me.
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it ?
- The only other MPOG I've been a serious part of is (Don't laugh now,) Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates. I was the captain of a crew there and a highly involved member of flag (guild) leadership. For personal reasons involving free time and general burnout on the game, I stepped down into an advisory role.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
- Specifically, the attitude towards committment. It seems to me that HeEt recognizes that real dedication to the game involves wanting to make the game experience better for everyone, not just a matter of hours spent hunting the Snark.
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
- The guild-hall.net forum guild advertisements.
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
- In-game, very little. Out-of-game, I can handle more. It's a matter of access - I have more access during the day to forums, chat, &c than I do the game client.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
- I can only play for a few hours at night after my baby girl's gotten to sleep. Generally between 9:30pm-12:30am Eastern US time. Weekends are slightly more flexible, but only slightly.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
- My primary character right now is a Mesmer/Elementalist - the lure of stealing a foe's energy and using it to burn them to the ground was too strong to resist.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
- Wow, that's a mighty broad question. It depends strongly on the specifics of the situation, but given the philosophy of the guild, it's unlikely that the HeEt member in question was the provoking party, so without more detail I'd have to say that I'd do what I could to seperate the parties. It's a big game, there's no reason to stick around abusive players.
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
- My aforementioned Me/E is Jann Tariq.
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
- I strive for transparency; while I don't post on any other forums, were I to, I'd use the same account name (ethornber.)
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
- Not at all. However, I recognize that it may be important to others, and I would be loathe to jeopardize it.
If I may be permitted a slight bit of space for a personal note: I'm a husband and father staring at the business end of my thirties. After a disastrous stint in the dot-com world, I'm a college student again. This means that while my schedule doesn't fit the 9-to-5 world, my ethics and perspective on the world tends to. I've been playing video games since the days of the Atari 2600, and I'm not ashamed of that. I'm hoping, in HeEt, to find a like-minded group of mature gamers who understand that the Guild in Guild Wars isn't just catchy ad copy, but still realize that there is more to life than your XP bar. Thank you for your consideration, and I certanly hope to hear from you.

Re: Post your answers here.
Hail and greetings all HeEt travelers. I am a humble monk who seeks entry to a fine guild such as HeEt so please accept my application with utmost reverence.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
The E3 demo last year (thanks to cad-comics.com) and need for a change from EQ 1 and 2. The graphics are amazing but I wish you could /consider an enemy aside from clicking to attack to determine the level (bad to do with a range weapon).
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it ?
I have been both a member and officer in guilds on EQ 1, however with the advent of EQ 2, CoH, WoW, and others, the guilds slowly disolved. I truly enjoyed the friendly banter and the genuine goal to help each other. The hardest part was the impending level gap for those who play on occasion and those who were level grinders.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
HeEt has a philosophy directly in-line with GW, no level grinding or mandatory 40 hours a week playtime, just genuine fun and friendship. Truly a good guild for those with limited playtime but a willingness to contribute.
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
The great lord Flonne Kurei posting over on GWG directed me here.
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
In a group, I can easily follow direction as well as provide leadership when necessary. As a guild I will gladly do what I am told to contribute to a positive gaming experience.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
Here in the tree-hugging state of Oregon, US in the Pacific time zone. I play whenever my other half is at work, which is usually 5 or so days a week.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
Currently I am a Mo of 5 seasons and still growing accustomed to the game. I prefer caster/support roles to tank/DD types.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
/ignore is a wonderful function. No sense adding fuel to the fire.
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
I am Faith Starpyre, your humble servant.
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
N/A
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
Not that important. I'm here for the fun and enjoyment of all.

Re: Post your answers here.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
Guild Wars was strongly recommended to me by folks I know, namely Dreamless, Coda, and Tom, but the lack of monthly subscription fee, gorgeous settings, and game industry "pedigree" behind the game motivated me to pick up the Collector's Edition on launch day.
Still in pre-Searing lands, so I'm hoping that the game picks up the pace a bit more once I finish exploring and savoring the initial settings - that'd be my prime "gripe" about GW at the moment.
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it ?
I'm concurrently in WoW, until my six-month subscription runs out - uncertain about renewing that one until Blizzard gets their act together. I play guildlessly, but assist several guilds as a Tauren druid since I like helping people, but steadfastly want to avoid the drama and politics associated with guild names. So far, my freelancing has fit my playstyle nicely, and I seem to be on good terms with most of the Horde on the server.
Most of the time I prefer the lone wolf approach, but if HeEt keeps the laid-back attitude that I see here on the site, I think I'd like running with this crowd.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
The philosophy seems to cover most potential problems that occur in MMOs/online games - accommodating playstyles that vary, not taking a game too seriously (thank goodness). The only point I could potentially disagree with is message board activity - I strongly prefer to lurk and keep to myself, and would prefer to keep my communications in-game.
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
As mentioned earlier, Dreamless, Coda and Tom Fury have recommended I give this guild a try (I accepted an invite the other day).
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
If responsibility you mean leading or organizing events, I'd fall into the "little" category. I prefer to let others lead, but back them up when necessary.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
It will vary depending on work - I don't get home until 8 or 9 pm PST, and if I am on, I try not to play later than midnight or 1 am at the latest. Weekends are so-so also, since family and errands absorb most of my free time there.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
So far, Mirrah Longshadow is a vanilla monk, still experimenting with what I want for the back end. I like helping others via healing and that sort of support - let others get the battlefield glory and I'll try to keep them on their feet as they charge in.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
I'd probably whisper that player and see if they were handling it all right on their own - we're all adults here, so hopefully each can deal with the e-rage and taunting that comes with online gaming. If they needed me, I'd recommend that we ignore the offender and adventure somewhere else - no need to feed the negative-attention seekers.
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
Only character at the moment is Mirrah Longshadow - going to experiment with that before creating any other characters.
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
I do not post on any other boards.
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
Not overly concerned with the rank at all - I'll help boost us how I can, but it isn't the be-all, end-all to playing a game. Having fun in general takes precedence, IMHO.

Re: Post your answers here.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
I was initially attracted to it mostly because I didn't need to pay $144 - $180/yr to play it. The more I read and more screen shots I saw I really new I needed to buy the game. The most appealing factor was the ability to adjust my characters attributes. From the little I've played other RPGs as a "newbie" picking that "best" set of attributes is difficult that and the "hiking" time to various cities. GW seems to have hit on something that I think will really change the entire MMORPG model. I wanted to be in "early" enough that the community was not filled with arrogant jerks who have played for 3 yrs and look down at new ppl.
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it ?
We usually called them "clans" I've played a lot of Team Fortress Classic (HalfLife mod), America's Army, WWII Online (where we called them Brigades). I really enjoy the esprit de corps. Playing online games as a lone wolf is difficult at best and becomes boring. I enjoy helping others and as a newbie today need some help myself at times. The one thing that can be a bit difficult to figure out is who plays in matches. I've been in some clans with 40+ members and the biggest matches were 8v8. With up to 100 members to a guild I'm curious how this may work out.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
The concept of "All guild members are considered equals" holds a lot of appeal to me. I don't know if I'm "casual" or "hardcore" I play when I can and that varies alot!!! I'm 38yo male, wife, two kids, 2 hour commute to work etc....I really do play as much as I can evenings and weekends.
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
Received an invite from Pyxis at www.guildwarsguru.com.
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
Hopefully "a lot" once I better understand the game and the type of responsibilities needed by the Guild.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
Right now I'm playing every "free" moment, that will probably become 10-15 hours per week. Some weeks 2-3 hours other weeks 20 hours. I will play weekdays and weekeds 7p-12a Eastern. On weekends I will probably play all day, or not at all.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
I currently have a LvL 9 Monk / Ranger, and will want to explore all other classes after I advance this one a bit more. Warrior / Necro seems interesting, I want to learn more about the Elementalist profession.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
It might depend who and how they were assaulted, options in rough order include ask the perpetrator to lay off, take a screenshot, report to leadership of guild or GW support.
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
Tyreek Benedict. Don't laugh My 7 yr old picked the first name, and I wanted the char to be a monk and so I chose Benedict.
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
mostly guildwarsguru.com - Dabagboy
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
Not really, it would be great to advance, but my in my life it really doesn't matter. Sort of like when your former High School football team wins a state championship, bragging rights yippee!!! But it doesn't really matter to me, my wife, employer, kids etc....today.
Of course I'd love to contribute to any victory no matter PvP or PvE, ladder or no ladder.

Re: Post your answers here.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
There are many things that attracted me to GW, including the realism of the graphics, instanced zones outside of towns and no subscription fee. While I am still heavily involved in FFXI, which I've been playing for a year and a half, I felt the need to break the mold and try something different. GW also seemed heavily community based, which I like. Its the community that's kept me playing FFXI all this time, and the friends I've made there. I would hope it would be the same in GW, since community is a big focus of the game.
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it?
Well, I have a linkshell in FFXI, which is basically a guild. I've been in the same shell for most of my time playing that game and have organized events, helped just about everyone in the shell at some point and generally enjoyed the community there. I am a linksack holder, which is equal to an officer, most likely, so I have quite a bit of responsibility and authority in the shell.
I was also in a guild for my brief time playing WoW, but that was just basically a guild of friends. I was one of the founding members of that guild.
Basically, I enjoy having a group of people with similar interests to converse, do things with and just generally have a good time with.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
I think I mentioned it earlier, but the philosophy you have here in this guild is pretty much the way I tend to live my real life and it was very much the way both my FFXI linkshell and my WoW guild were designed. We didn't force players to do anything or be on a certain number of hours per week, or demand that they be there to help on quests or missions that were organized and such. That's my biggest like about your philosophy, since I do consider myself a casual gamer. You don't place any demands on the gamer and are really only concerned with having a good time and enjoying the game and each other's company.
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
I just started posting on www.guildwarsguru.com and Soul Monarch referred me to your web site when I posted that I was still looking for a good, helpful, mature guild.
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
Well, I'm no stranger to responsibility in a guild in MMOs as I mentioned earlier, but since GW is my secondary game (as I still have quite a few obligations in FFXI), I won't be on it as much as I will be on FFXI, obviously. Still, I'd be more than happy to help out and participate in events and such, as I still plan on being in GW quite a few hours per week.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
During the early week (Sunday through Wednesday) I'll probably only be playing an hour or two in the mid-afternoon (2:30-5:00 or so, it varies by day). Thursday through Saturday I'll most likely spend more time in-game, but I still have obligations in FFXI on those days, as well. That varies from week to week, too. Fridays will probably usually be my big day to play GW. As for time zone, I'm in US Central time zone, located in Iowa.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
Right now I just have one character, an Elementalist/Mesmer. But, I'd like to try out a Ranger (unsure about secondary profession right now) in the future. I've always been a mage-type person. In FFXI if you look at the levels of all my jobs, the mage jobs are always the highest, in fact, my main job in that game is a mage job. I'm not big on up-front melee fighting jobs like Warrior. I like that I can attack from a distance.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
If we're talking in the guild, I'd try to put a stop to it, by being reasonable at the same time. I'm not usually one to lose my temper, so I'd calmy try to ease the situation. If someone outside the guild was harassing a guild member, I'd do the same thing. I don't condone "revenge" either. The "he hurt me so I'm gonna hurt him in return" attitude is what I dislike most about many people in MMOs and I see this a lot in FFXI (not in my linkshell, thankfully).
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
For now, my only character's name is Kyana Fay.
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
I post on www.guildwarsguru.com as Kyana Fay, also.
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
You know, status and bragging rights is something that is in every MMO. In FFXI you get titles after completing certain quests or missions, or killing certain huge monsters, which give you the freedom to "brag" (in a good way) about your accomplishments, and the same can be said of things in GW. But, that's by far not the most important thing in the game. Its nice to advance, but winning and climbing up the ladder isn't everything.
Thanks for taking the time to read my long-winded reply.

Re: Post your answers here.
1. What attracted you to Guild Wars, and what do you like most and least about it?
What attracted me the most is the free monthly subscription. I love RPG games a lot. My favorite game is Morrowind, which I've played for years now, it is simply one the greatest I've ever played. I love the freedom
of the game, although it was a singleplayer game it had some elements that keeps you going all the time. I never tried a Online game before mainly because it costs too much in my opinion due to the monhtly fee. Fortunately Guild Wars is not a such game, and it gives a great reason to try this new kind of role playing game where people all around the world get to together and explore the fantasy world the game has to offer.
What I like the least about the game is that I haven't received it yet I ordered it yesterday and it will arrive the next few days I believe.
2. Have you ever been in a guild in another game, and are you in one now ? Explain what you like/d about or dislike/d about it?
As I answered in question 1, I never played such game before. However, I look forward to explore the game features and guild/team spirit.
3. What about the HeEt philosophy do you like or dislike. Please be specific.
To start with I am buddhist. As a buddhist I do not believe in GOD or what so ever. My motto in life is quite simple: Empathy. By this I mean; always care for the next person first before you care yourself. It sounds perhaps stupid, but if you believe in this, then the most complicated things in life would seem not so complicated after all. I respect the HeEt philosophy cause it in many ways corresponds my own philosophy in real life. I must regarded as a casual gamer, since I am a student at the moment. Sometimes it feels great to just let your mind flying into a fantasy world, where you yourself can achieve something that not only makes you happy but also brings happiness to other people. At the same time it is great to get to known with people that have common interest.
4. Where did you hear about us ? ( example: website, in game , another player, etc )
Right after I ordered my copy of the Guild Wars, I located the official page of Guild Wars. I tried to read a bit about the game, and supringsingly there are tons of information that I could read. Fortunately I came a across about a forum where people request for Monks characters in the game for healing I suppose. Looking further in the forum I discovered a link to your homepage. I started to read the Philosophy and the presentation you gave about yourself and somehow your mentality suits me perfectly. So here I am trying to be a member of your Guild!
5. How much responsibility would you be willing to handle; a lot, an average amount, or a little?
Well, as I said earlier I am fulltime student, there restrictions on how much time I could spend playing the game. However, I must say that I am that kind of people that will give his heart and soul to achieve something. So if am in a group, and the task is not over my league then I can handle a lot. But I think I must play sometime with the game before I can answer 100% to this question.
6. How much do you plan on playing ? and what hours do you play? ( please include your time zone , country or state etc )
Presumably in the weekends. But when I got free time I woud join the game in weekdays as well.
7. What type of characters do you have or plan on making ? example - Ranger / Elementalist etc what you like about it ?
Monk or warrior I suppose. But I must try to get the feel of the game before decide this as well.
8. If you see a member of the guild being verbal assulted or any inappropiate behavior in anyway being done, how would you handle the situation?
As in real life, wisdoms and compassions is the only solution to all problems. We are humans, and humans are destined to make errors, get tempered, revenge and suffer. So to solve problems in life as well in the game one must see through the issue/case and not rush to a conclusion. What is wrong is perhaps not wrong, what is true, isn't neccessary true for all beings. Therefore if any situations should occur, I would try to reflect on the issue, try to figure why the person did as he/she did, and at the same time try to get opinions from other members on the issue.
9. If you use another name in game, other than the one you registered with for the boards, What name will that be ? ( this is so we know who you are =p )
There is a place calls "Seyda Neen" in Morrowind which I just like pretty much. So I think I would use this name.
10. If you post on any other message board related to Guild Wars ie. VnBoards, the Guild_hall etc, What name do you use? ( this is for reference purposes only )
Seyda Neen as well I believe
11. How important is the Guild's Ladder position to you?
Well, not be so greedy, it is an important part of the any RPG as well as in real life. In order to achieve something one needs to have the tools, the power, the experience and so on.
However, there are many things that are equal important
