The N/Rt builds are pretty amazing as healers, actually. I use them fairly often.

Oh, and yes, I use Monk heroes. I deviate from the "Standard" of 2 monks 6 others and usually go 3 monks, 5 others. I find in Hard Mode or other difficult areas the survivablility and defense is well worth it.

Course, if you want to really Tank you could take...

Razah: Spawning Power, Communing
Xandra: Spawning Power, Restoration
Olias: Soul Reaping, Blood Magic, Healing Prayers.

Get Razah with a Defensive SPirit build, Shelter, Union, etc. Xandra with a Restoration Build with Weapon Spells, Healing Spirits.
Olias with Blood Battery set up and healing spells.

Razah with Ritual Lord will get off spirits really fast so they should be up nearly all the time. Restoration magic will seriously boost the healing. Things like SPirit Light Weapon, Life, etc. And Olias will keep the energy going and be able to toss heals when he sacrifice hurts himself or as needed. (Or go Prot and get Condition Removal if you don't have it already)

Niva Reikan: Warrior/Monk, Kurzick Champion
Arcturus Highwind: Paragon/Ranger
Pet: ROUS
Walker Tam: Warrior, Defender of Ascalon in Training
Nikolia Vasburg: Ritualist/Necromancer
