GvG review - 4/26

Well, that was fun! emoticon
I really enjoyed GvG for the first time in a while.
Thanks to our alliance friends for making it possible when we were shorthanded.

The rit definitely looks to be the best option in the runner role. Recuperation didn't work out as expected because of the big energy hit, but Life helped out nicely. I'm still not sure exactly what the final build was, so if anyone has it, please post it.

As far as the ranger is concerned, I really liked all the ele's we were seeing. It gave me plenty to interrupt.
But I'd like to ask, how much is cripshot helping? I mean I know it helps, but is it crucial?
The reason I'm asking is because I think I could add significantly more overall pressure with Burning Arrow.
I've heard "more offense" mentioned a few times in discussions, which it why I'd like to give this a shot, assuming it doesn't break the team build.

I've given a lot of thought to CripShot, and I think it needs to stay.

Without much defense in the build at all, CripShot becomes a key component in our ability to mitigate attacking Warriors. Granted, we didn't need it all that often this week, I expect that this was just a fluke. Besides, on the Warrior, I could certainly tell when my target was cripped when we went on a spike, and it was a huge help.

Some other thoughts on why we were succesful:

-Lill hit it on the head when he spoke about communication. Communication was really key for us, and our runner especially, needs to be very vocal. Communication was also incredibly helpful regarding times when we were split, making note of what the enemy was doing while we were in two places at once

-The Warrior spike is really coming together nicely. If the called target is cripped a second or so before the spike is "due", and the Hammer Warror KDs the target with his first strike, the spike is almost always succesful. I'm very happy with the sword uild I'v been using, as it's spike potential is really great. I'll post the latest version with specific points when I can but for quick reference here's the skill list:
Frenzy, Magehunter Strike, Sun and Moon Slash, Sever Artery, Gash, Final Thrust, Res Sig
I was really impressed with the spike when we were able to pull it off succesfully even with Lestalt's TS on the fritz

- I'm not sure how often PwK was being used on the blinder, but I definately am in favor of keeping the more offensive nature of the build intact, even if we do keep a skill or two in reserve for team defense. The only non-physical damage in our build is from the Ele, and there were at least a few occassions where I was chasing a target I could not catch, who was within a pixel of dying, and they went down with a flash of lightning.

Something to note...

We didn't face any teams with what I would consider heavy melee pressure this week. With the definately more offensive nature of our build, I am very curious to see how well we handle such an opponent, given our growing familiarity with our builds and roles on the team. I think we may find ourselves at a distinct disadvantage vs a god melee-centric team, but we'll have to see how that goes. No reson to go nuts thinking of counters, but it's certainly something to keep in mind.

Actually, right after you logged off, we went up against KT in the Burning Isle again. To our surprise they weren't running the SF spike anymore, but of all things, a Ranger spike.
Without Aegis or a ward, it made it difficult to defend against. We were able to spike a few of them down, but their spike was more than we could handle.
But we'll see how it goes. Like you said, no need to go nuts thinking of counters at this point.

I definitely agree, but there were still a couple of times when we had multiple people calling out instructions. This resulted in half the team running in different directions for a few seconds and that amounted to wasted time.

I think we should take advantage of the cats a bit more, maybe try to lure the teams into the blast.

Had fun and glad to see dan is finally going to post that sword build (just kidding). Also thought it went good. No lack of offense when we were coordinated. I don't think we really rolled many of the teams but we did absolutely beat some of them we would have lost to last week. The ranger spike was impossible to deal with in our current build.

We did come up against another melee pressure build after Dan had logged off. We went up against RA Risen from the Ashes and they had there pressure build going pretty good. They also had a nice melee spike. Personally I just felt outmatched and we only had four Heroes at that point in the night.

It was great to have some good match ups and also great that your Alliance friends fit in so well.

Looking forwards to more great nights.
