Heroes GvG... The Vision

The goal of Heroes GvG is to begin to play GvG on a regular basis, with the hopes of getting better at it so that we may be competetive with some of the better teams out there. While we will not be putting our ranking on the ladder above the goal of having fun, it is one way to measure our success.

If we are going to be able to maintain a regular schedule of GvG activity, there are a few rules that should be in place beforehand. They are necessary not only to ensure organization and coordination, but also to guard against some of the pitfalls that may create difficulty for the team or individual members.

1. Builds, tactics and strategies must be determined beforehand on the message board, in this forum. While it will be necessary at times to make small adjustments to a build once it has been tested in battle, or to alter tactics a bit, we cannot be spending long stretches of time in the Guild Hall, trying to figure out who is bringing what character and what role they will play. Folks that want to join in on a planned GvG session should have participated in the discussion leading up to it, know their role on the team and what skills they will be bringing.

2. A team leader must be designated for each match. The team leader's role is to keep everyone on the same page regarding tactics- when to attack, when to retreat, and target priorities. The team leader may be the person who designed the build, or they may be another member who has shown proficiency in that role in the past. Team leaders will be assigned for each battle, and may rotate as needed.

3. In the interest of not wasting the playing time of those members who are limited in that regard, it is imperative that all members who have committed to the battle are at the guild hall, with their character for that build and skills at the ready. If a match is scheduled at 8pm EST, and you have committed to playing in that match, then you should be at the hall and ready to go at that time. Since all discussions regarding character choice, skill sets etc... will have already taken place on the messageboards, this eliminates a lot of time-eating confusion trying to build a team.

4. Although we are setting this up to be a bit more involved than previous GvG we have done as Heroes, it is still very important that we keep our core philosophy in mind. While some of us may be very competetive, and absolutely hate losing, we must always remember to carry ourselves as Heroes. Things can get heated in the fury of combat, and it will serve us well to remember that it is just a game, and we are all here to have fun.

5. Due to the fast pace of the action, and the rate at which situations can suddenly change, Teamspeak is an invaluable asset that we must take advantage of. Even if you are not set up to use a mic, at least be able to listen. If we are going to try to play competetively, we must use what assets we have at our disposal.

6. Heroes GvG is open to all who wish to play. The only time folks will be excluded is if there are more than 8 looking to join in at any given moment. If so, we will determine in this forum who will play when, based on the availability of the various players. A rotation of sorts will be used to ensure that all those who wish to play will have the chance.

These rules are really just a framework for what we plan on doing to ensure a good time is had by all. They will surely be changing over time, and I encourage your thoughts and comments.

I have no problem with what is posted. The one thing I need to do better is be online before 8:00p for Saturday nights. I tend to log in a little before hand and then there is the gathering period and we end up not starting until around 9:00p. I think if we start closer to 8:00p we have a better chance of getting some good matches in before midnight.

I think a 9pm start time is a bit more realistic for some of the folks involved. I understand that completely- we don't all live in the same time zone, and we certainly don't all have the same schedules.

The biggest thing is that we all know when we will be meeting. It seems like we get most on by 9pm, and the last few on by 10pm (all times EST).

So, if we know that going in, we can make adjustments as needed.
