Unstoppable Axe (posted by Pyxis)
Class: Warrior / Mesmer
Assumed items:
+1 to Strength
+1 to Axe Mastery
+1 to Tactics
Attributes: (cost)
Strength: 3+1 (6)
Axe Mastery: 11+1 (77)
Tactics: 8+1 (37)
Illusion Magic: 11 (77)
Total attribute points used: 197/200
Skills:
1) "Watch Yourself!" (availability) - (4a,0,0) Party members near you gain +20 armor for 9 seconds.
2) Flurry (availability) - (5,0,5) For 5 seconds, your attack rate is increased, but you deal less damage.
3) Rush (availability) - (4a,0,0) For 11 seconds, you move 25% faster.
4) Penetrating Blow (availability) - (5a,0,0) This axe attack has 50% armor penetration.
5) Dismember (availability) - (7a,0,0) If it hits, this axe blow will inflict a deep wound on the target foe, lowering that foe's maximum health by 20% for 17 seconds.
6) Axe Rake (availability) - (7a,0,0) If this attack hits a foe suffering from a deep wound, you strike for +8 damage, and that foe becomes crippled.
7) Leech Signet (availability) - (0,1,45) Interrupt target foe's action. If that action was a spell, you gain 3 energy.
8) Illusionary Weaponry (availability) (elite) - (15,1,40) For 30 seconds, you deal no damage in melee, but whenever you attack in melee, target foe takes 32 damage. This is an elite skill.
Unfortunately I didn't think to try this build out last BWE. He wouldn't do very well in the Arena anyways, really needs a healer behind him to achieve anything as he has no healing himself. The whole idea here is to be a dedicated Axe warrior, missing 1 skill that is dedicated to Illusionary Weaponry.
Illusionary Weapon can bypass a lot of the skills that are designed to render a warrior ineffective. It is still weak to a few, and can always be disenchanted, but it works as a good alternative for times when you find your attacks have been countered and you are going nowhere fast. Other than that, just a running flurry axe warrior.
Keep in mind that Flurry does not effect the damage of IW.
So this is just a basic warrior build with 2 tricks up his sleeve. 1 is IW and the other is Leech Signet. Really not using Leech for the Energy gain, just for the interrupt. Really using Energy on Flurry and will bring Focus for IW when I need it, if I don't have enough energy to cast it already. Watch Yourself is great for a team environment as well.
IW is not countered by:
Armor
Block
Evade
Miss (Blured Vision, Blindness)
Soothing Images
Sympathetic Visage
Life Bond
Shield of Judgement
Weakness
Insidious Parasite
Still Weak against:
Empathy
Disenchant spells
Amity
Pacifism
Shadow of Fear
Spiteful Spirit
These buffs may still work with it, but all others will not:
Vigorous Spirit
Dark Fury

When I saw the build title I thought you would be using or Wild Blow.
Pure Strike [5/0/8] (Sword Attack) If Pure Strike hits, you strike for +(1..24) damage. If you are not using a Stance, Pure Strike cannot be "Blocked" or "Evaded".
Wild Blow [5/0/5] (Melee Attack) Lose all Adrenaline. If it hits, this attack will be a Critical Hit. If Wild Blow is "Blocked" or "Evaded", any Stance being used by your target ends.

IW ignores armor, blindness, and several other key skills that Wild Blow would not. It is really in response to the Monk build I was running with Armor of Earth/Ward against Melee/Healing Hands last weekend. This build would cut through that monk like nothing happened, but without it, that monk could probably take on 2 or 3 such warriors for quite a while. Plus blindness just sucks, and this is a way of countering it.
I just saw all the IW builds with Mesmer Primes and wondered why not go with a Warrior prime and just throw it in as a fix for all the Warrior Counters. As you can see from the list I put together, it doesn't fix all of them though, I am pretty sure Empathy and Spiteful Spirit still would have effect.

Re: Unstoppable Axe (posted by Pyxis)
In my ongoing search for a better faster tank with my war/mo i tried many of the skills and found beserker stance much better than flurry as there was a boost of +20% with each melee hit and you also attack at 33% faster than normal for 5-11 seconds. Whereas flurry is only 5 seconds and you lose out on damage. The only real drawback that I found to beserker stance was the 30 second recharge which is only noticable under extreme conditions for me. For everyones pleasure to rip or appreciate I will post my build for my war/mo which is effective, but needs a few touches for improvment.

Re: Unstoppable Axe (posted by Pyxis)
Axe 15
Healing 10
Strength 3
Tactics 9
The main skills that I use are as follows:
Cyclone Axe, Executioners Strike, Bonnettis Defense, Gladiator Defense, Live Vicariously, and Vigorous Spirit. In answer yes there are other skills that I use, but they are of little consequence in this post. With this build I can solo alot of areas and gain as well as keep agro from leaving me. I am then able to place or change things quite efficiently to help in whatever area I happen to be in. In particular for pvp i tend to use eviscerate in place of glad. def. and beserker stance for cyclone axe then i fill out the skill bar with other essentials (rez). Any comments be them good or bad will be appreciated as I will use them to fill out a more effective tank for future use.
