Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
Extra damage is never a bad thing, I don't see how that might compromise defense in a PvP setting if the build is based around offensive skills.

Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
Pyx- I agree with everything in your last post. I too would rather play a build that I have fun with, rather than a pure dps build, and agreeably, I suck at pvp.

Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
OK, now that I've found Cleave, it will be replacing Glimmering Mark in my repetoire. The spammability of cleave, combined with the extra boost I will receive from Conjure, and the innate AP from Strength (12% at 12) is very interesting.
Axe will certainly go up to 12, and I believe it will be possible, with runes, to run all three - Axe, Strength and Air at 12 pts, if I so desire.
So... the current skill set would look like this:
1. Conjure Lightning
2. Flurry
3. Cleave
4. Executioner's Strike
5. Penetrating Blow
6. Disrupting Chop
7. Shock
8. Sprint
Here's some more concepts to introduce to the build, for use within the framework of a team build...
Knockdowns can be handled by someone else (exit: Shock)
Slows can be handled by someone else (exit: Sprint)
Interrupts can be handled by someone else (exit: Disrupting Chop)
So, with those assumptions made, and those changes made, I can insert Wild Blow for the Stance disruption. I am unaware of any other skills in the game that disrupt a stance. If there are others, I'd like to know.
So, Wild Blow is in, Shock and Sprint are out. What do I add in? MORE DAMAGE!!!
If this build is designed to be a damage dealer through and through, why bother with other elements when they rightly should be handled by other party members?
So perhaps the addition of these two skills:
Lightning Strike 5,1,5 41 dmg
and
Power Attack 5,0,4 +26 dmg
Along with Wild Blow would make for an interesting pure damage dealing build.
I like Lightning Strike for the relatively fast cast and high damage output, plus it's recharge is fairly quick as well. Using Power Attack also gives me another option to use when I am the victim of an Adrenaline denial attack, which seems to be very en vogue right now.
Anyway, these are just some other thoghts I have rattling around in my head. I'm not much for making commitments to builds on paper until I've played with them a bit in-game, but at least it gives me a target to shoot for.
I'll let you all know how it works out.
Oh, by the way, with the right armor setup, I can acheive 12,12,12 in Axe,Str, and Air.
Strength - 48 att points for level 9 +1 helmet, +2 Major Rune
Axe - 48 att points for level 9 +3 Superior Rune
Air - 97 att points for level 12
Of course, I'll have to find the runes, and a Superior Vigor to go along with them, as well as a better fortitude upgrade for my axe, and maybe a fortitude shield as well... but a man can dream, can't he?

Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
If you are looking to go for pure damage, I would suggest:
Conjure Lightning
Cleave
Executioner's strike
Disrupting Chop
Penetrating blow/dismember
Wild Blow
Frenzy
Swift Chop
12+3+1 axe, 8+1+? Str, 10 air
+20% enchant grip (saves energy for conjure)
Shocking axe haft
Without a zealous haft energy is going to be a problem, flurry eats up 3 pips of energy if kept running constantly. Frenzy is a far better alternative IMO.
Against adrenaline-draining enchantments and hexes... well I'm afraid nothing's going to help against that, except having good enchantment/hex removal on your team.
Disrupting chop is a must-have and would take some pressure off your mesmers.
You could actually also switch to Water magic and get a ranger on your team with Greater conflagration + winter, so you can use a zealous haft - as well as opening up a lot of different strategies for the other members of your team.
I dunno. Just some thoughts i had.

Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
The difference between flurry and frenzy really will depend on the number of monks in our party. If we have a bunch, I would certainly prefer Frenzy, but if we are short on healing, I'd be serving the party better by not monopolizing the monk's attention with the extra criticals that result from frenzy.

Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
Well, Lightning Strike gives a non-meleee attack. (very useful)
Power Attack boosts adrenaline which other skills need.
I use Swift Chop myself.

Re: Shock Trooper War/Ele
New quote from Ensign concerning putting points in weapons:
quote: Ensign:
Since every Axe Warrior worth talking about has a 16 in Axe Mastery we'll use that as our basis, with a 10 in Strength as that's a pretty typical value for that attribute.
Now where did I put that pair of flip-flops?
