R/Me - Energy Drainer
Been having fun with my degen R/Me, but wanted to start looking into other builds just to mix things up.
Energy management problems is the bane of all casters, so I thought this one would be fun to try.
Although I can't try this build out yet, because I don't have all the skills unlocked.
I'm just trying to see how it looks like on paper.
Class: Ranger / Mesmer
Assumed items:
+3 to Expertise
+2 to Marksmanship
+1 to Wilderness Survival
Attributes: (cost)
Expertise: 11+3 (77)
Marksmanship: 8+2 (37)
Wilderness Survival: 4+1 (10)
Domination Magic: 7 (28)
Inspiration Magic: 9 (48)
Total attribute points used: 200/200
Skills:
1) Serpent's Quickness - (5,0,45) For 20 seconds, recharge times for your skills are reduced by 33%. Serpent's Quickness ends if your health drops below 50%.
2) Debilitating Shot - (10,0,5) If Debilitating Shot hits, your target loses 10 energy.
3) Distracting Shot - (5,3/4,10) If Distracting Shot hits, it interrupts target foe's action but deals only 15 damage. If the interrupted action was a skill, that skill is disabled for an additional 20 seconds.
4) Energy Drain (elite) - (5,1,20) Steal 16 energy from target foe. This is an elite skill.
5) Signet of Weariness - (0,1,30) Target foe and all nearby foes lose 7 energy.
6) Antidote Signet - (0,2,8) Cleanse yourself of poison, disease and blindness.
7) Spirit Shackles - (10,3,5) For 20 seconds, target foe loses 5 energy whenever that foe attacks.
8) Rez Signet (never PvP without one )
The main focus here is pretty obvious. I'm not really concerned about damage here. I figure draining all the energy from an enemy monk or mesmer would be a lot more damaging to the enemy.
If my calculations are correct, I can drain 43 energy in about 7 seconds.
I know the skill point layout looks a little wierd, being so spread out, but here's my thinking with that:
Serpent's Quickness: The only wilderness skill in the bar, so 5 is enough to give me 20 seconds of quick recharges for the initial volley of Debilitating Shots.
Debilitating Shot: Only costs me 4 energy at 14 expertise to drain 10 energy from them.
Distracting Shot: Figured it would be worthwhile to throw a distracting in there while debilitating is recharging. Besides, it only costs 2 energy.
Energy Drain: I won't be anywhere near an energy management issue, but I figure after 2 rounds of debil and destract, it would be a good idea to use this. More to hurt them, rather than help me.
Signet of Weariness: A free energy drain, and good to use between debils when serpents is gone.
Antidote Signet: Blindness, ugh! Unless we have a healer drawing conditions, I need this.
Spirit Shackles: A good 'set it and forget it' spell to use on rangers or warriors. I'm just not crazy about the 3 sec cast time.
Rez sig: don't leave home without it.
So what do you think?
Any feedback appreciated.

Not crazy about spirit shackles either. Other than that I love it. Play around with it for a bit and see what you end up with then post back later

Yeah, against a warrior, I think it would depend on his build. Wouldn't do much against an adrenal heavy build.
But it can ruin a Ranger. As a primary ranger, this one has really screwed me up on several occasions.
I've also considered replacing Energy Drain with Echo, and doubling up on the Debilitating Shot.
As soon as I can farm the needed skill points, I'm going to try this out.
Pyx, can I piggyback with you through one of those UW farming runs?

Re: R/Me - Energy Drainer
If you are looking for skill points, it will probably be better for us to run Fissure a few times. There are a few 'easy' quests that give 10k a pop. So, I think that you will earn skill points faster there.
With an all Hero team, we have easily cleared many quests in a short period of time.
