UW Trapper Team build...


Here is my guide for setting up a good UW trapping team.

ALL Rangers should have all of their points in two skills - Wilderness and Expertise, with any remaining points in Beast Mastery. Wilderness should be 16 (12+4) Expertise should be 13 (12+1) and BM at 4 (3+1)

For armor, druids set is best, for the energy. For weapons, equip a staff that gives +10 (or more) energy - an Insightful staff modifier is even better.

Energy is the key for trapping.

My skill bar normally looks like this:

Flame Trap, Barb Trap, Spike Trap, Dust Trap, (spirit), Whirling Defense, Troll Unguent, Rebirth.

The minimum # of trappers I'd take to the UW is 3, 4 is ideal. 5 Trappers are good also, especially in a PUG, as someone always drops, but I've completed the smite area with just two trappers.

For spirits, the two you need are Energizing Wind (EW) and Quickening Zephyr (QZ). With three trappers, EW and 2 QZs is best - the QZ has the shortest recharge (should be 47 seconds with 16 WS) and is recast by the trapper with the second QZ after laying two sets of traps. With 4 trappers, the 4th Ranger should bring Winnowing, with five Rangers, the last ranger should bring Edge of Extinction (EoE).

The puller should use Whirling Defense - if you're not pulling, equip "Throw Dirt" to blind monsters if you run into problems, or healing spring for occasional group healing.

All traps should be placed in a tight spot, to maximize the damage they'll deal, and help prevent premature trap triggering.

Here is the skill bars for the three main trappers:

Ranger #1 (puller)
Flame Trap, Barb Trap, Spike Trap, Dust Trap, EW, Whirling Defense, Troll Unguent, Rebirth.

Ranger #2
Flame Trap, Barb Trap, Spike Trap, Dust Trap, QZ, Throw Dirt, Troll Unguent, Rebirth.

Ranger #3
Flame Trap, Barb Trap, Spike Trap, Dust Trap, QZ, Throw Dirt, Troll Unguent, Rebirth.

Additional Trappers if used:

Flame Trap, Barb Trap, Spike Trap, Dust Trap, Winnowing, Healing Spring, Troll Unguent, Rebirth.

Flame Trap, Barb Trap, Spike Trap, Dust Trap, EoE, Healing Spring, Troll Unguent, Rebirth.

If you're heading to the village to charm a spider, one of the rangers can substitute Throw Dirt for Charm Animal.

For smite runs, 3 rangers is the minimum, for spider capping, 4-5 rangers is best.

Lastly, bring a couple of Phantom Keys, for chests. Normally (but not always) you'll find a couple of chests, one of which usually is Gold, and drops nice items like Storm Bows, Ghostly Staves, etc.
