R/W: The Elbyran Build.

Named so after Elbryan of Dundalis, The Nightbird from the book The Demon Awakening.

Sounds more interesting to me than "Melee Ranger" or something.

Anyways, here's the stats I have down for Elbryan's build. Course I've yet to unlock some Runes I would love for him, such as Major Vigor, Expertise, and Wilderness Survival.

Swordsmanship: 10
Tactics: 5
Expertise: 11 +1 Mask
Wilderness Survival: 10

And my skill bar (For PvP as this character was made for)

Apply Poison: 15/2/12
Preperation. For 24 seconds my attacks inflict poison for 11 seconds.
Sever Artery: 4 Adrenaline.
Sword Attack. Inflicts bleeding for 18 seconds.
Gash: 7 Adrenaline
Sword Attack. Deals 15 extra damage on a bleeding target, inflicts deep wound for 15 seconds.
Deadly Riposte: 5/10 Recharge time.
For the next 8 seconds with a sword equipped block the next melee attack. Deal 35 damage to the attacker, and inflict bleeding for 10 seconds.
Throw Dirt: 5/1/45
Skill. Blind touched target, and all adjacent foes for 13 seconds.
Lightning Reflexes: 10/45
Stance. For 10 seconds you have a 75% chance to dodge or block melee or ranged attacks. You attack 33% faster.
Troll Unguent: 5/3/10
Skill. For 10 seconds you have health regeneration of +8.
And the last slot is the ressurection signet.

Idea is basically to be an antiwarrior build. Throw Dirt can let you take on two or maybe even three warriors without sweating too much, not to mention the dodge of lightning reflexes after they recover, and the regeneration of Troll Unguent as a last resort. Never had a problem with energy. Condition inflicting builds dont' seem to effect this ranger too much. Except blind I imagine, but I never ran into that. Bleeding, cripple, deep wound, no problem. Fairly straight forward, not to fancy tactic wise.

Any thoughts? So far I'm happy with the build. I went toe to toe, and was winning, against 2 well built Warrior Monk tanks in PvP. Would have won that if not for the rest of my team getting slaughtered so I was 4 on 1ed.

Originally I was using Whirling Defense instead of Lightning Reflexes. But I changed it out for the bonus attack speed to build up adrenaline.

Of course I realize I should unlock and add some runes to the build. As well I should play my warrior though more to perhaps pick up some better sword skills.

Anyone ever try anything like this build?

Just so happens that I picked up a Superior Expertise from a receint Ettin run. Look me up in game and it's yours.
