I think the best thing to do would be to setup the Trap Equinox ranger to be able to run as well. At least by Bringing Storm Chaser. This way if he gets targetted to be DP'd out, the 2 rangers can switch roles and the runner can come up and fight while the trapper can run the flags. Obviously this switch needs to be made before the DP gets to heavy.
Both Rangers are mediocre at best, but thats mainly due to giving their Elite spot up for Equinox.

Another advantage to having the Rangers carry Equinox though and not the warriors is the melee characters can keep their elite slot. Ranger primary characters can boost up the durability of the spirit without hurting anything else as well.
