InvinciEle
I know Pyx posted a similar E/D build somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now.
Anyway, I played this in randoms, and it's actually quite funny what a tank it is.
One match I was left alone against a sin, ranger, ele, and monk. It took them a long time to take me down. If they didn't have the monk I'm convinced I may have had a chance at winning it.
Elementalist/Dervish
Level: 20
Energy Storage: 11 (10+1)
Earth Magic: 16 (12+4)
Earth Prayers: 8
- Stone Daggers (Earth Magic)
You send out two Stone Daggers. If it hits, each Stone Dagger strikes for 35 earth damage.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:0
- Stoning (Earth Magic)
Stoning strikes for 111 earth damage if it hits. If Stoning hits a foe suffering from Weakness, that foe is knocked down.
Energy:15 Cast:1 Recharge:5
- Obsidian Flame (Earth Magic)
Deal 118 damage to target foe. This Spell ignores armor but causes Exhaustion.
Energy:5 Cast:2 Recharge:5
- Mystic Regeneration (Earth Prayers)
For 20 seconds, you have +3 Health regeneration for each enchantment on you.
Energy:10 Cast:0.25 Recharge:5
- Kinetic Armor (Earth Magic)
For 8 seconds, you gain +84 armor. Whenever you cast a Spell, Kinetic Armor is renewed for 8 seconds.
Energy:15 Cast:3 Recharge:60
- Earth Attunement (Earth Magic)
For 62 seconds, you are attuned to Earth. You gain 1 Energy plus 30% of the base Energy cost of the skill whenever you use Earth Magic.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:45
- Elemental Attunement [Elite] (Energy Storage)
For 48 seconds, you are attuned to air, fire, water, and earth. You gain 50% of the Energy cost of the skill each time you use magic associated with any of these elements.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:45
- Resurrection Signet ()
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. You may use this Signet only once per mission.
Energy:0 Cast:3 Recharge:0
You start by casting Elemental Attunement, Earth Attunement, Kinetic Armor before engaging. Then run into battle, hit Mystic Regen, and start spamming the Daggers and Stoning. (remember to cast Mystic before Kinetic wears out)
SD and Stoning cost 1 and 3 energy respectively, so you'll have virtually no energy issues. Plus you'll have 144 total armor and +10 health regen.
Obs Flame is reserved for when someone is hidden behind an obstruction, or when you need a finishing move and Stoning is still recharging. But I use it sparingly because of the exhaustion.
I also recommend a +20% enchant mod.
The counters are obvious. Enchantment removal(rarely seen in randoms) and a good dom mesmer. When the build is 'broken' it goes down pretty hard. But when it works as planned, it's a ridiculously powerful tank.

Re: InvinciEle
Actually I've seen this build a lot in AvA. I've been taking them down like the drunken hobos they are with a simple Illusion Degen mesmer build. So toss in "Degen" on the weaknesses. When I can stack deep wounding, and about 23 points of Degen on ya, then they go down pretty fast.
Also I've seen Fire Eles using it too. They drop Elemental Attunement for Savanah Heat. Personally when I've faced the two, or seen them at work, I think the earth one works better.
Most of the earth ones I've seen though don't have Obsidian Flame. Instead they're using Stoneflesh Aura. Not sure if that's something to consider or not.

Re: InvinciEle
Conjure Nightmare and Conjure Phantasm go a long way towards it. Nightmare is 10 right off, Pantasm is 5 more. Images of Remorse and a few others. I've been using... what is it, Phantom Pain and Illusion of Pain as well.
Lots of Degen. Accumulated Pain for immediate Deep Wounding and a bit of extra damage...
Then some energy stealing and weapon switching to help me recover.
Using two weapon sets, a wand with a +15 Max -1 Regen mod and focus, and a staff set to help regen during downtimes.
It's sort of "Wham, you're dead, now give me 7-10 seconds to recover" most times. Works well in FA too against the Seige Turtles, of course.

Re: InvinciEle
Bring Obsidian Flesh as your Elite and Storm Djinn Haste instead of Rez for AVA. Also use Armor of Earth instead of Kinetic for the faster cast time and lower recharge, a bit more flexible if you can't make the 8s cast requirement at some point on Kinetic. With +20% enchant mod only have 6s window to cast on you.
You can make pretty effective combos with Mystic Regen and any class, I saw a tough Sin build using it the other day, not sure what skills he had but same concept. The coolest thing is you get the +3 regen at only 8 points.
I saw people using different variations of this in AVA originally, its a hearty build solo and extremely tough to deal with if supported.
Dervs can remove the enchantments with some attacks, and Rits have Ritual that does the same.
Toucher can fight you to a standstill.

Re: InvinciEle
Probably was some type of Critcal Hits 'sin. But I wouldn't venture to say without seeing it.
Personally I do like this set up. It's nice, quite effective. Just be warned if you do AvA, or RA, you'll probably see a ton of those.... and I've seen the two eles fighting each other to a standstill, it's not cool.
Since this is one of the Popular Builds I so suggest finding a way to include Enchantment Destruction, or Massive Degen when you do go out there. Even if you don't run into them, things like Massive Degen don't hurt. Nor does Enchantment Stripping when you find all those W/Mos with Healing Breeze and Healing Hands running around like cattle to the slaughter.

I dunno... I still don't see it.
All those spells are going to cost you 60 energy. All that for -10 degen for 10 sec? That only comes out to 200dmg. Even with deep wound and an bit of extra damage, I can't see it taking them down, especially since Illusion of Pain will give them a big heal at the end.
