Re: My favorite MM build
Yeah... but then, I'm not a Healing Monk, I'm a Smiting Monk, I always hoped that would do a little better on the death dealing side of things. Eh, I'm sure I'll find something, may be getting switch out of Tactics into Strength...

Re: My favorite MM build
You're right, JL. Verata's Aura/Gaze could potentially bring this MM build to its knees as it is totally dependant on the pets. Fortunately, I haven't seen many mobs in my PvE runs that use those spells... in fact, I don't think I've seen them use it at all... but I still have a long ways to go in Factions. I'm not sure how common those spells are in AvA battles though. I would imagine Spiteful Spirit being a lot more common. I don't think it would be as effective as the Gaze or Aura, but it could still wreak some nasty havoc on this MM build as it would cause the pets to kill each other off. That would be a situation where I would hope I have Death Nova on a lot of them before they go (if they were melee pets)!
I was just thinking about how it would be if we had that list of minions and could select them from the list. The damage potential for DN/ToD would be insane! If you had a full army of 10 pets, and had already cast DN on all of them, you could potentially do 1050 damage in an area over 2.5 seconds. You would have to click each pet on the list and hit your ToD macro just as the previous cast was finished casting. It would require perfect timing to hit 2.5, so it would more realistically be somewhere between 3 to 5 seconds... but still... that's a lot of damage output in a short amount of time.
Hello, Glint! Say hello to my little friends! BLAM! (Yeah... I can dream it... good luck getting 10 pets in with Glint. It's not a great place for making pets. )

Re: My favorite MM build
Or more realistically, I wish they would give you the ability to have a "Closest/Next Minion" type button, like Tab with the Enemies. That would be easy, useful... hmm...

Yeah, you'll rarely (if ever) run into those skills in PvE. Spiteful is more common than Verata's in PvP, but still not all that prevalent...although I have a feeling people will soon start wising up and bringing one of them into alliance battles. There was a week in tombs where everybody was running minion factories and I kept bringing spiteful...that was fun!

Re: My favorite MM build
I can say, with my experience AvAing, that it seems you'll usually run into about 3-4 necros in a battle on the other side. Out of those Necros, one is Blood/Curses, with Spiteful Spirit, and all the others are Minion Masters. Usually you can tell the SS necros, because they have Mesmer secondaries, while all the others have Monk, or sometimes Elementalist. Well, that and the fact that the SS necro will be the only one that doesn't have about 6 undead following it around at any given point in time.

Re: My favorite MM build
Actually, that's good to hear! If there are so many MM necros out there, I'm going to have to go in with Verata's Gaze and Verata's Aura.
All your pet are belong to me!

Yeah, the new types of PvP are quite fun now because they haven't yet settled into an area where the "leet" folk run the show. There's lots of room for creating new builds and counters and laying some pain down on the other team
I suspect this may change over the next month or two to become more like the PvP scene in prophecies, so lets enjoy it while it is still accessible to those of us who aren't proffessional PvPers!
For anyone who has an interest in PvP but feels like they aren't very good, I would definitely give Fort Aspendwood or Alliance Battles a try as soon as you can. They are quite fun, even without specific team builds.

Re: My favorite MM build
Now I'm excited about going into AvA with Verata's Aura/Gaze on my skill bar! I want to go in with a MM build built for anti-MM.

Re: My favorite MM build
Yeah, I think that would be loads of fun, I may have to try it myself! You can free up space for one of those skills by getting rid of your rez for AvA. Players who are killed will be automatically rezzed at a nearby shrine pretty frequently with no DP.
