I'm a Helper! Smiting and Healing.
This is what I've been PvE Monking for a while. Probably not the most effective build, but I like it. And it's always nice to help.
Not to mention this build can be quite important when in Cantha, finishing off enemies like Shadowform Assassins, as the damage gets around their defense.
Monk/Whatever
Healing Prayers 11 (Plus Runes/Hat)
Smiting Prayers 10 (Plus Runes)
Divine Favor 10 (With your runes of choice of course)
I prefer to run Major Runes of Smiting and Healing. Superior Runes would be too big a HP hit in my mind, and minor runes for monks are quite expensive.
Skills:
Orison of Healing
Healing Breeze
Signet of Rejuvination
Reversal of Damage
Light of Deliverance (I'm waiting to cap perhaps Glimmer of Light instead, LoD is nice, but doesn't really fit... Maybe I'll look for Word of Healing, Spellbreaker, or Shield of Judgement)
Smite Hex
Zealot's Fire
Ressurection Chant
Simple idea. Use Zealot's Fire, slap some heals on. The two skills you should be using most often are the Signet, and Reversal of Damage. I don't really have a problem yet keeping up my energy while healing, until I get DP. That -1 from Zealot's Fire generally doesn't hurt until I'm sitting there with only a 26 Energy Pool.
Personally the Warrior blood in me loves seeing random -29s popping up when I heal. The Monk in me loves tht fact that I can still be an answer healer while those numbers are flashing around.
There's been a lot of enemies I've killed through RoD, so that's not to be taken lightly. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite non-elite smiting spells.
While I'm not going to say it's the most effective healer build out there, it is fun to play.
