Stalwart Defense. Me/E

This was an old AvA build I had used to some success back in the day. Curiousity is driving me to test it out again, well, that and my One Man Hex Spike, to see if its still a valid build for PvP. AvA at the very least, though I'd also like someone to test it out in HvH, just to see how well it works.

Mesmer/Elementalist

Attributes split between Fast Casting, Earth Magic, and Inspiration.

Skills it used before:

Earth Attunement
Armor of Earth
Silver Armor
Kenetic Armor
Stone Daggers
Energy Drain (Elite)
Energy Tap
Ether Feast

It was, an interesting build. Keeping in mind I played it Post "Toucher" era, when finally the play balanced out so you'd only run into one or two R/Ns in a match.

The build was hell on Warriors and Assassins. I imagine it'd do fairly well on Paragons and Dervishes as well. Elementalists were generally not a thread either.

My Average Armor ended up being something like 160 something. Even when people were hitting me with something like a Metoer I was barely taking any damage. I could "Tank" defend things like Rez Shrines against superior numbers. MMs never really did well against me. Generally it'd take a Toucher to take him down. Or I'd need to get 6 on oned (Which actually happened a few times. Sadly I was with a PuG team, and they couldn't capitalize on the fact that I was keeping half of the enemy forces busy... morons emoticon )

Build idea is pretty basic. No fancy tricks. Stone Daggers is really your only real source of Damage. And it can take down people, other than Rangers, pretty damned fast if I do say so. Enchant up, spam Stone Daggers, watch your character go all twitchy and the numbers start to fly.

When you get low, slap on some Energy Draining. I never had problems with my energy between having both Tap and Drain.

Big problem I ran into with it was fighting people with Degen. While you have more armor than most warrior builds, there is only one heal, and it isn't even all that good.

I'm not sure if a Hero could maintain their energy properly for this build. So I'm not sure if it'd work in Hero vs. Hero...

But I'd love to get a Guild/Alliance team that could capitalize on the sheer distraction/defensive powers of this build while I keep 3-4 enemies busy.

Also, yeah, I'd love people to give me suggestions on some Nightfall Mesmer/Elementalist skills I might want to unlock that go with this.

What about replacing Silver Armor with Stoneflesh Aura?
With a super-high armor, plus the 25 damage reduction, I don't think there's much in the game that would do any damage to you.

Degen, life steal and enchant stripping are still the weak spots.
Although I would think Ether Feast would counter most degen. Unless they kept you pegged at -10 for a long time.

With Stoneflesh Aura (10/2/15) you could actually keep it up all the time (as long as energy is not a problem), but there is no collateral damage to nearby enemies. Silver Armor (10/1/30) has the collateral damage, but there is a downtime with this skill. If it is interrupted or stripped early you will be without longer.

Well, I'm going to have to unlock this Stoneflesh Aura. I have max Balthazar faction right now. So an unlock or two won't hurt me. emoticon

I'm not sure what skill I'd drop for Stoneflesh Aura. I mean, there is A LOT of melee in AvA. Mostly assassins and Minions, but still, there is quite a bit. I could see about dropping Stone Daggers, since the build is supposed to be Defensive in nature.

But if I can't knock out targets, I run the risk of having shrines captured out from under me just because there are more enemies than I can deal with. Since most everyone packs healing of some sort in AvA, I doubt Wand damage would be enough to kill someone...

Oddly enough, Enchantment stripping is nearly nonexistant in AvA. Excepting say, the mesmer shrines, they all pack Shatter Enchantment... but players almost never pack it.
