Party-buff Paragon
Haven't been to DoA yet, but Dan's post got me thinking of a decent support build that might work there.
This one's a little "outside the box". But since Paragons aren't huge DPS machines anyway, I figured why not focus on defense instead of offense.
My biggest question is how the e-management will work out.
Paragon/Mesmer
Level: 20
Leadership: 12 (10+2)
Motivation: 12 (11+1)
Inspiration Magic: 10
- "There's Nothing to Fear!"
For 10 seconds, all allies within earshot take 31% less damage. Affected allies are healed for 52 Health when this Shout ends.
Energy:15 Cast:0 Recharge:10
- Song of Restoration [Elite] (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot uses a Skill, that party member gains 78 Health.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:15
- Aria of Zeal (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot uses a Spell, that ally gains 5 energy.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:20
- Ballad of Restoration (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot takes damage, that party member gains 63 health.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:20
- Leader's Zeal (Motivation)
For each nearby ally you gain 2 energy (maximum 11 energy).
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:12
- Ether Signet (Inspiration Magic)
If you have less than 8 Energy, gain 17 Energy.
Energy:0 Cast:1 Recharge:45
- Inspired Hex (Inspiration Magic)
Remove a Hex from target ally and gain 8 Energy. For 20 seconds, Inspired Hex is replaced with the Hex that was removed.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:0
- Signet of Return (Leadership)
Resurrect target party member with 13% health and 3% energy for each party member within earshot.
Energy:0 Cast:5 Recharge:20
He would be wielding a staff with +energy mods.
With 12 in leadership, all the shouts/chants will cost 6 less energy (assuming at least 5 other allies in range)
The key is to keep "There's Nothing to Fear!" up as often as possible, and supplement with the other chants when needed.

Re: Party-buff Paragon
My understanding from some limited reading about DoA is that chants and shouts are almost useless. Apparently just about every mob has a necro with Well of Silence, or other shout/chant cancelling skills.
I like the idead of it, but we may have to research the area we decide to go in before trying this one, to see if that is going to be a problem we might face.

Re: Party-buff Paragon
I like Defensive Anthem better for the Elite Spot. *shrug* If you want to go Defensive.
Don't fall for that "Paragons can't DPS" myth.
Between Spear of Lightning, Barbed Spear, Blazing Spear, they got a good core for Damage Dealing. Wild Throw is great for those slippery dodgy foes. Also the Luxon/Kurzick Paragon skill has quite intrigued me.
Well of Silence isn't that big a deal. The Well doesn't prevent people from recieving the effects of your Shouts and Chants, but merely prevents you. So you know, move just a couple of yards on screen and you'll be fine. At least that's what I've noticed.
The bigger issue with the Wells would be the Degen you get from them. It'll probably be -5.
Thus why I'd suggest going with Command rather than Motivation. The skill "Never Surrender!" can be a good counter against the mass degen, giving your troops +3 (+4) Regen.
Plus Command can give you Stand Your Ground! Which I personally love. And things like "Retreat!" if things start to go bad. So rather than everyone dying only one person is left for dead.
With so many Shouts and Chants, I don't think Ether Signet would be necessary. Not sure why you're taking Revealed Hex, energy or Hex Removal. But something to think about perhaps. With a 12 in Leadership you should be getting your energy back with every shout you use.

Arcturus Highwind: Paragon/Ranger
Pet: ROUS
Walker Tam: Warrior, Defender of Ascalon in Training
Nikolia Vasburg: Ritualist/Necromancer

Re: Party-buff Paragon
My concern isn't so much which chants/shouts to use, it's whether I'll be able to effectively use them at all.
It's not just the wells of silence, but hexes like vocal minority and other anti chant/shout hexes that I'm worried about. Not sure how much these things get spammed in DoA, but from what I've heard, it's tough to use them in there.

Re: Party-buff Paragon
Well, here's what I've settled on...
Paragon/Mesmer
Level: 20
Leadership: 12 (10+2)
Spear Mastery: 11 (10+1)
Motivation: 12 (11+1)
- "There's Nothing to Fear!"
For 10 seconds, all allies within earshot take 31% less damage. Affected allies are healed for 52 Health when this Shout ends.
Energy:15 Cast:0 Recharge:10
- Song of Restoration [Elite] (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot uses a Skill, that party member gains 78 Health.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:15
- Aria of Zeal (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot uses a Spell, that ally gains 5 energy.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:20
- Ballad of Restoration (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot takes damage, that party member gains 63 health.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:20
- Leader's Zeal (Motivation)
For each nearby ally you gain 2 energy (maximum 11 energy).
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:12
- Energizing Chorus (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next Chant or Shout used by each ally within earshot costs 6 less energy.
Adrenaline:4
- Inspired Hex (Inspiration Magic)
Remove a Hex from target ally and gain 4 Energy. For 20 seconds, Inspired Hex is replaced with the Hex that was removed.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:0
- Signet of Return (Leadership)
Resurrect target party member with 13% health and 3% energy for each party member within earshot.
Energy:0 Cast:5 Recharge:20
As it turns out, high Leadership coupled with Leader's Zeal and Energizing Chorus is pretty powerful e-management. It's actually difficult to run into energy problems.
Plus with this build, I get to keep the spear and shield, which is better for both damage output and defense.
Inspired hex is there simply for removal of hexes like Vocal Minority, if I get hit with them.
Again, if it turns out that it's impossible to effectively run shouts/chants in DoA, I'd just switch to some generic spear build.

Re: Party-buff Paragon
Just got another idea that should lend itself really well to the "supertank" build idea for DoA.
Replace Song of Restoration with Angelic Bond.
Angelic Bond
For 30 seconds, all damage suffered by target other ally is divided equally with you.
If we have a bonder on the team placing Life Barrier and Life Bond on the tank, I can follow it up with Angelic Bond just before he aggros.
That would make both of us take just 12.5% of damage. This doesn't take into account the Warrior's armor or any earth skills like Stoneflesh, or the reduction from "There's Nothing to Fear!" either. So the damage that gets through should be virtually nil.
Of course this is all assuming that the bonders enchants don't get constantly stripped.

Re: Party-buff Paragon
Another option is for the Bonder to only bring Life Bond and some other elite. That way he could run Life Bond and Bal's Spirit on both of you and then depend more on Prot Spirit to keep the damage amounts low. This way even if the tank gets stripped you would still be providing energy to the Bonder and protection to the tank. May be able to run Monk secondary yourself for healing and to benefit from Bal's Spirit yourself for Energy. Also if you cast this on the Bonder as well he may actually double his energy gain. I haven't actually used these skills so not sure how all that works out, but would be easy enough for 3 people to test.
Anyhow, sounds like a good idea to me.

Re: Party-buff Paragon
One other thought for a skill to cram into the bar - "They're on Fire". If fire damage is being thrown around by us (i.e. Searing Flames or something similar) then this will also help reduce any damage felt by our team.

Skye Du Loch (necro)

Wunder Kid (monk)
Son of Dhal (elementalist)
