GvG Paragon

There are many options for a solid GvG Paragon, and they all revolve around Aggressive Refrain, several shouts/chants, and a couple spear skills.
The nice thing about Aggressive Refrain is that it can't be removed, and you should be able to keep it up indefinitely.

This one is one of my personal favorites:
Charge Paragon

Paragon/Warrior

Leadership: 12 (11+1)
Spear Mastery: 12 (10+2)
Tactics: 10

- Spear of Lightning (Spear Mastery)
If this attack hits, it deals +18 lightning damage. This attack has 25% armour penetration.
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:6

- Spear of Redemption (Spear Mastery)
If it hits, you deal +17 damage, otherwise you lose 1 condition
Adrenaline:3

- "Charge!" [Elite] (Tactics)
For 9 seconds, all allies within earshot move 33% faster.
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:20

- "Watch Yourself!" (Tactics)
Party members within earschot gain +18 armor for 10 seconds.
Adrenaline:4

- "Shields Up!" (Tactics)
For 9 seconds, you and all party members within earshot gain 24 armor against piercing damage and 50% chance to block incoming projectile attacks.
Energy:10 Cast:0 Recharge:30

- Anthem of Flame (Leadership)
For 10 seconds, the next attack Skill used by each party member within earshot also causes Burning for 3 seconds.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:10

- Aggressive Refrain (Leadership)
For 21 seconds, you attack 25% faster but have Cracked Armor for 20 seconds. This Echo is reapplied every time a Chant or Shout ends on you.
Energy:25 Cast:2 Recharge:20

- Signet of Return (Leadership)
Resurrect target party member with 13% Health and 3% Energy for each party member within earshot.
Energy:0 Cast:5 Recharge:20

The party wide armor buffs help take some of the pressure off our monks, plus Charge allows both the frontline to chase down kiters, and our backline to kite. Not to mention he's an additional source of constant DPS on the target.

The only downside is it doesn't have any direct heals. Although a Motivation support paragon could be used if healing is a question.

These skills current? Thought that "Watch Yourself!" had a downtime now. And didn't remember Agressive Refrain being Self Only and giving Cracked Armor...

It's whatever came out of GWfreaks. I didn't bother to update it.
The only missing piece is the 4 sec recharge for Watch Yourself.
The Aggressive Refrain description is accurate.

Considering that I wouldn't be using Agressive Refrain myself. You'd be having it reapplied so often that the conditions would be prohibitive. Don't know how Paragons rate on the Target List for GvG, but they're usually pretty high on mine.

Agressive Refrain is key to the build. You need it for the adrenal gain, plus the increased DPS.
Besides, even with the cracked armor, you still have 86 base armor (insignias + shield). Plus Paragons are rarely a primary target in GvG.

I'd love to give this a try. Paragon is one of my favorite classes. I don't know how well it would work in our build, but that's really up to Dan, huh? HAHAHAHAHA oh... sorry.

I'm trying to understand the usage of this character and I just don't get it.

What's the overall purpose of the build, and how does it go about accomplishing it?

.............................

On a different note, consider this, if you will...

Swap Charge! for Anthem of Guidance...
Elite Chant. For 10 seconds, the next attack Skill used by each party member within earshot cannot be blocked
cost 4 adrenaline, 1 sec cast, no recharge
It's linked to Command, but the attribute rank has no effect.

Spears attack pretty quickly anyway. Adrenaline shouldn't be that much of a problem. But if they're a low priority target... well... than they're foolish enemies. emoticon They're my first target called after Monks and other Healer/Protection types.

It's purpose is the same as most Paragon builds, party wide buffs. In this case the protection from Watch Yourself(which can be kept up permanently during battle) and Shields Up, and a group speed buff. Plus a spike assist with the spear skills when necessary. (not to mention the semi-consistent burning from AoF)

As far as how you go about using it, you cast Agressive Refrain before the battle, and it can be kept up indefinitely with your shouts/chants. So you basically end up with a permanant +25% IAS buff.
As long as you have at least 1 adrenal based chant, you should never run out of energy. In this case, Watch Yourself gives you +6 energy every time you cast it. Of course, if you get separated from your team, then energy could become problematic. But if you're separated from your team as a party buffer, you've got bigger issues.

It's absolutely flexible too. Anthem of Guidance would fit in there no problem.
Another one I've considered is Anthem of Fury, which could give the warriors +4 strikes or adreanaline every 10 sec. Should allow them to spam their attacks much more often.
