GvG Paragon v2
Since Anet beat the crap out of the Paragon build with the nerf bat, I figure we're going to need to come up with something new.
Here's what I've put together:
Paragon/any
Leadership: 12 (11+1)
Spear Mastery: 12 (10+2)
Command: 12 (10+2)
- Vicious Attack (Spear Mastery)
If this attack hits, you deal +17 damage. If you land a critical hit with this attack, target foe suffers from a Deep Wound for 13 seconds.
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:8
- "Go For The Eyes!" (Command)
For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot makes an attack, that attack has an additional 66% chance to critical.
Adrenaline:4
- "Never Surrender!" (Command)
For 15 seconds, all party members within earshot and below 75% Health gain +4 Health regeneration.
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:20
- Defensive Anthem [Elite] (Leadership)
For 9 seconds, each party member within earshot has a 50% chance to block incoming attacks. This Chant ends if that party member hits with an attack Skill.
Energy:15 Cast:2 Recharge:25
- flex spot: "Fall Back!" or "Stand Your Ground!" or Godspeed
- Anthem of Flame (Leadership)
For 10 seconds, the next attack Skill used by each party member within earshot also causes Burning for 3 seconds.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:10
- Aggressive Refrain (Leadership)
For 21 seconds, you attack 25% faster but have Cracked Armor for 20 seconds. This Echo is reapplied every time a Chant or Shout ends on you.
Energy:25 Cast:2 Recharge:20
- Resurrection Signet ( )
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. You may use this Signet only once per mission.
Energy:0 Cast:3 Recharge:0
Obviously not as much defense as the other build, but this is the best I could do.
Defensive Anthem would be coordinated as part of the Aegis chain, and called out in the same manner.
As far as the flex spot is concerned, I'm partial to either "Fall Back!" or Godspeed.
"Fall Back!" for speedy kiting, and healing while doing so. Or Godspeed for a long duration partywide speed buff that works well with Aegis.
I'm not really crazy about "Stand Your Ground!", since it's against human nature to stand still while taking a beating (or at least it should be!)
EDIT: Another option for the flex spot could be Bladeturn Refrain:
For 20 seconds, target non-Spirit ally has +34 armor against slashing damage. This Echo is reapplied every time a Chant or Shout ends on that ally.
Granted, we probably won't run into a lot of slashing damage. But even against a build like ours, where there's only one source (the axe warrior) it could still prove quite useful. That +34AL equals about a 45% reduction in damage. Keeping this on all our backline would seriously gimp the damage output of any axe/sword warriors (and even some sins). Might even help hold up against an adrenal spike.

Re: GvG Paragon v2
This looks a bit like some of the notes I was jotting down while surfing for ideas. I'm a bit concerned about the true usefullness of Defensive Anthem though, considering the long recharge. If we chain it right with Aegis, we might be able to pull it off, but with the decrease duration of Ward Melee, I think it's a "we'll see" sort of thing.
Also, for the flex spot, Iw would recommend Fall Back, as a good speed buff will help with kiting while healing as well.
All of it boils down to less defense though, in a not-so-defensive build already. It's a bit scary, IMO.

I agree, but I'm not sure what other options we have.
Once we play a few matches matches with the new build, we should be able to tell if it's viable or not.

Re: GvG Paragon v2
Another potential build.
Although I'm not so sure about it. It's defense is all healing, and I've always felt that prot trumps healing.
Paragon/any
Leadership: 10 (9+1)
Spear Mastery: 12 (11+1)
Motivation: 12 (10+2)
Command: 5 (4+1)
- Vicious Attack (Spear Mastery)
If this attack hits, you deal +17 damage. If you land a critical hit with this attack, target foe suffers from a Deep Wound for 13 seconds.
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:8
- "Go For The Eyes!" (Command)
For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot makes an attack, that attack has an additional 45% chance to critical.
Adrenaline:4 Recharge:4
- Song of Restoration [Elite] (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot uses a Skill, that party member gains 97 Health.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:20
- Ballad of Restoration (Motivation)
For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot takes damage, that party member gains 63 Health.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:20
- Finale of Restoration (Motivation)
For 30 seconds, whenever a Chant or Shout ends on target non-Spirit ally, that ally is healed for 63 Health.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:10
- Anthem of Flame (Leadership)
For 10 seconds, the next attack Skill used by each party member within earshot also causes Burning for 2 seconds.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:10
- Aggressive Refrain (Leadership)
For 18 seconds, you attack 25% faster but have Cracked Armor for 20 seconds.

Re: GvG Paragon v2
This looks quite nice. I'd like to see this one in action this weekend over your first build.
Prot is being nerfed all-around. The stated goal of the king nerfherder, Isaiah Cartwright, is to limit the effectiveness of passive defenses and encourage active play.

Re: GvG Paragon v2
Personally, I'd prefer the smite monk that I posted.
The thing that I don't really like about song and ballard is that while it affects everyone in range, it's usually just 2 or 3 that need it. The smite monk can focus his efforts on the specific targets in need.
That plus the rather long recharge of both can be a problem at times.
On the plus side, I think Finale of Restoration could work really well. I should be able to keep it on the monks and mesmer for the majority of the time.
Either way, I'll give this build a shot for this weekend and see how it goes.

Re: GvG Paragon v2
Well, I tried out the second posted build for a bit in ZA.
Results were mixed.
I actually had some energy issues at times, but that may be due to the gimped energy return of a 4-man team.
I really expected better healing out of Finale too. Although it may have been that they were really beating on Norgu, making it hard to notice.
I guess we'll see how it goes in GvG.
