It's something completely different than anything i'd normally play so its a nice change. Been playing for a few days and I'm kinda addicted.
Different type of game. If anyone played Dota then you will be familiar with the genre.

Awesome!!!
I used to play a lot of WC3 and DotA, but that was a few years ago.
Although I have a friend of mine who still plays it, and he says it's still popular after all these years. So if the guys who created DotA did this, it should be pretty solid.
I'm definitely getting in on the beta.

Wow, I had no idea the whole DotA thing was this huge.

Looks very similar to the League of Legends though.
HoN is currently in closed Beta, so I'm going to keep an eye on it.

My take on it is they are a mix of mmo, rts, and action rpg.
These questions and answers came straight from the FAQ page:
Is League of Legends an MMORPG?
League of Legends is not an MMORPG. However, League of Legends will have a persistent game element that is in the spirit of an MMORPG. That is to say, while a large aspect of the game will be session-based battles; there will also be persistent elements, such as the Summoner, abilities, and levels that exist continuously throughout the game. Is League of Legends an RTS?

LOL, no wonder I couldn't figure it out, doesn't sound like they have figured it out themselves yet 
Do you play a single character on a battlefield or control multiple units?
