Deadly Warrior of DOOM!

I'm thinking of going Warrior Prime for this, but a lot of the skills I have to ask are about assassin skills.

I was getting an idea, playing against Miss Freya the other day, for a Warrior/Deadly Arts build. Has anyone tried this?

I noticed that Deadly Arts gives you a Shadow Step skill, which also slows down your enemy. Dark Prison I think its called. As well, if you're a warrior, you know that enemy monk will kite you.

So I started look, and boom, there under Deadly Arts was "Enduring Toxin", it poisons them every 3 seconds, and when its over, if they are still moving they are poisoned again. Good for those running fools, I thought.

I'm not sure what warrior skills I would use. Probably sword and board, I don't think it'll matter too terribly much. Though Hamstring on top of the Dark Prison slow down, with you swinging for the fences at them, while they are poisoned if they try to run, might be interesting.

Any thoughts? This idea is still half formed in my head, so I'm open to a lot of suggestions.

I've been wondering about the effectiveness of some of those skills myself.

I've just been having so much fun with the PvE portion of things, I haven't been PvPing as much as I usually do. Maybe next time I'm on, I'll roll up an A/? and see how those particular skills (all the anti-kite skills) work out. There sure are a few of them.

Definitely sounds like a great combo for whacking at those kiting monks. Perhaps "shroud of silence" (elite) could be worked in as well to shut them down?

Re: Deadly Warrior of DOOM!

Okay, the other day I went Sword, Board, and Deadly Arts in AvA. Here are some of my notes.

One, Dark Prison is decent, but not a winner. It slows down the enemy, sure, but with only 10 in Shadow Arts, the Slow effect only lasted 5 seconds. This usually gave me enough time to build up to my first sword tech, Sever Artery.

2, I usually followed this up with Enduring Toxin. Once the hex is over, I noticed enemy monks, and Minion Masters, will start running for the hills. For whatever reason, they don't seem to recognize Enduring Toxin for what it is. I get lots of mileage out of this.

3. About 50/50 on this. Once I use Enduring Toxin, I usually go with either Syphon Speed, Scorpion Wire, or Hamstring. Depends on the enemy. I noticed some of them keep trying to kite me, even if slowed down, or I'm speed boosted, or they are crippled. If they are one of those "Stop, I'm not going to get away" don't bother with these.

4. If for whatever reason they stop Enduring Toxin, by either stop running, or hex removal, is when I go to town. Syphon Speed, Scorpion Wire, and after that, Dark Prison should be recharged for use. Just keep swinging for the fences.

All in all, my experience showed that a Deadly Arts Warrior isn't all that "Deadly". However, I can basically shut down a monk, or MM. They are so busy dealing with my sword after their head they can't do much else.

Only problem I ran into is Elementalists. You know, Lightning. Bleh. I had no way to remove hexes or conditions from myself. So that Blinding Flash hurt. Not to mention as they are spamming Blinding Flash and Lightning Spells Enduring Toxin doesn't last that long. Sooner or later they'll lose it just because they're standing still to Flash me again, or cast something else.

I had a similar experience in RA using an Assassin prime build with a focus on the anti-kite skills.

They are pretty decent for disrupting a monk, as they have to choose between removing hexes, healing themselves, or healing their teammates but, I found the skill slots taken up by the anti-kites limited the damage output considerably.

I think these skills used in tandem with a "standard" high-output damage warrior (Tigers Fury axe warrior) would work wonders.

Re: Deadly Warrior of DOOM!

Thought I'd update this, since I mentioned it elsewhere.

Here is basically the "Deadly Warrior" build I run right now.

Deadly Arts: 12
Tactics: 3+1+2
Swordsmanship: 12

Tactics are there because, well, you need a self heal in AvA. No promise that your monk will stick with you, or that even if he does he won't get a moment of "Self Preservation" where he just heals himself and runs around, even as the rest of his team needs him.

Skill Bar usually looks something like this. Tweeked occasionally by what I'm facing (For example, if I see a lot of Enchantment based characters I take along Expose Enchantments. Lots of Touchers I bring Expose Defenses)

1. Siphon Speed
2. Enduring Toxin
3. Scorpion Wire (Also the skill that most often is switched out)
4. Sever Artery
5. Gash
6. Silverwing Slash
7. Auspicious Parry
8. Healing Signet.

This is of course an AvA build.

And depite the low Tactics Auspicious Parry and Healing Signet are very important in there. You will find situations where you lose only because you didn't have just a little healing if you don't bring it. And Auspicious Parry is Assassin Counters.

You use it, their lead attack is blocked, while you gain adrenaline, thus their whole combo doesn't work, and you can go to town with a free 2 adrenaline or so to start with. *Shrug* Doesn't sound like much, but it screws them over pretty well.

Of course, as a Deadly Warrior your job is mostly to hurt the enemy. Mostly to hurt enemies that like to run when things get tough. Monks, some Elementalists, Minion Masters, Ritualists, assassins, anyone that is willing to tough it out against opposition, Warriors, Rangers, some Mesmers I find, etc, can probably overcome your limited healing and limited damage dealing skills.

However, those that run are screwed.

You'll slow them, and speed up yourself. You'll have them suffering from some 8 degen, and deep wound. If they have speed boosts to get away from you, you can scorpion wire them, then laugh as they're knocked down and you're right back. (Note, don't use Stonefists Gauntlets, you want them to get back up and running, and hurting themselves, not to lose 5 points of degen because you knocked them down)

As a Deadly Warrior I'm usually capable of operating almost alone. You can cap just about any shrine that isn't an Elementalist. You can go and run down enemy Runner types, including Touch Rangers if you bring Expose Defenses or Prot Monks if you run "Expose Enchantments". I've also been able to take out a few enemy warriors by hexing and bleeding them, then running away, kiting them to death... Haven't managed to do with it Honest Rangers, using bows yet. I doubt I will be able to, as most of them are Crip Shot/interrupt Rangers.
