Control of 7th Party Member
I remember playing Pool of Radiance over and over again when it first came out. During those (old) days I remember finding a work-around to control a 7th party member during the game. This may already be known, but will post the details for this here.
Basically you need to go and find an NPC called "Skullcrusher". He can be found at the Cadorna Textile House, at location 2,15. The trick is to bring him back to Phlan without returning the Cadorna family treasure, otherwise he leaves the party. In addition, he must return with zero experience points, so that you can go to the training hall and maxx out his stats! After modifying his stats, then he needs to be leveled up. The problem is though, often he will run away from battle, so you need to cast hold person on him so that he gains the experience points to level up. I found that after getting him to a high enough level, he no longer runs from battle and you can actually control him as a 7th player in the game.
This is really more of a novelty of the game, since you really do not need a 7th party member. But it is an interesting alternative to playing the game.
Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had success in doing this...
Thanks!

Re: Control of 7th Party Member
I read about this trick somewhere before, but I've never tried it. Something to do for my next time around, when I get a chance to do it. I usually just went to the training hall and recruited a couple of "Hero"'s.
Also I never used a thief in my team when playing Pool of Radiance. I always found the thief character to be too weak for the game since it is a low level quest. The only time that you need a thief in the game is for I believe Kudo's Well? where you have to have someone climb down + without sending a thief usually the character would fall to his/her death. For that part of the game I just recruited one of the thieves from the training hall.

Re: Control of 7th Party Member
Thieves have there own special place especially if you are considering moving your char from Pool to Curse and the such. They are also on the of the char that can do all you climbing, swimming. Sword in the bottom of the Valejo well, kolbold cave, and even the textile house thieves guild. I mean the concepts are based of 2.0 DnD hehe.

Re: Control of 7th Party Member
I usually just created new characters at the start of each game so I could use the modify option so I'd end up with higher HP than a transfered character. But in the later games I use a thief. Neat backstab skill. + picking pockets in the Zhentil Keep in Curse was fun too.
