I don't know if my version is special, but I do not even need the code wheel when I play. I use D-Fend, but I doubt that is the reason.

sweet! you must have a cracked version! OK. so you don't have to use the codewheel to start the game right, but do you still need to access the codewheel to get the Pool of Radiance - lux, shestni, and samosud, passwords at the sokol keep? or the passwords at the Valjevo castle or the pyramid on the river?

I don't remember needing the code wheel at al. I remember them by heart, so don't think I even looked for them.

Yeah I could usually get past the password protection within 3 tries. (without the codewheel) I had some of them memorized myself. temple, zombie, dragon, friend, vulcan, efreet. + lux shetsni and samosud at the sokol keep.
