Thin Lizzy Leicester Review

Review from the local Leicester news, the Leicester Mercury

"EVEN WITHOUT LYNOTT, LIZZY ARE STILL LIVE AND DANGEROUS

THIN LIZZY
DE MONTFORT HALL, LEICESTER
REVIEW BY AUSTIN J RUDDY

Tonight was special. It's almost 25 years since Thin Lizzy last played De Montfort Hall and 30 years since their legendary Live and Dangerous album, which became the benchmark for all rock bands' live albums.

But, on the opening gig of their UK tour, would the songs still sound dangerous in 2007?

Within minutes, it's clear the answer is undeniably yes. A glance round the near capacity crowd reveals grins beaming from ear to ear, from start to finish.

Purists may say no Phil Lynott, no Lizzy.

Maybe so, but guitarists John Sykes and Scott Gorham were both key to the band, and if anybody has a right to play Phil's music, they do.

Clearly, the droves of fans who turned out on a cold, dark weekday night to support them thought so too.

It was a pleasure and an honour to see such guitar masters at work, together with a breathtaking performance by bubble-haired former Whitesnake drummer Tommy Aldridge.

The secret to Lizzy's magic was Phil Lynott's poetic lyrics combined with well-crafted and tight rock songs, which though wild and raucous at times, always retained their class.

By the end of the night, it dawned on me that death isn't final.

Despite his demise, the late, great Mr Lynott's timeless songs are so strong they will be played for decades to come".

Carol x

It's so nice to hear that tour is going
well so far.
I'm sick and tired of all the negative
comments which has been posted on some website about John and Scott touring as
Thin Lizzy, though.

I really wish I could be at the show!

Top Notch. Can't wait for the Newcastle show. It will be my first time seeing the guys live as every time they've played Newcastle, I've always been on holiday or had a gig of my own!
