I found a Wikipedia entry on John. It's a bit low on detail.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Sykes

Could one of you who knows more about John's career (like Carol or Simon who seem to, certainly a lot more than me! emoticon ) fill in the gaps??

Jim Fitzpatrick's drawing of John. It featured inside the case for the Japanese CD release of Out of My Tree in 1995.

I have checked out most of the sites and forums on John but really only a few stand out as worthy of a mention and that is yours, the official site and Ismaels (which I know he isn't continuing anymore). The international fansite looks very professional but i have yet to join it to see if the content matches up to its looks.

I like your site because it's user friendly and the logo rocks! More important, it actually has current news on John as well as old articles which are really interesting and it is actually about John Sykes unlike some of the other yahoo fan sites!

The official site has recently got a new look too which I am not too sure about and what happened to the forum on this site? Is that why you decided to start this one? If so, great job!

Thanks for the compliments!

Drew (the official site webmaster) does well, considering what little official news there is these days. The message board that they used to have was removed in March '05. Most musicians of JS's stature have a forum on their websites. Maybe it will be back one day?

I agree that Drew must find it difficult updating the official site when there is not much official news to tell. :rolleye: It would be a lot better if John was more involved in his site but it just doesn't seem to be his thing so can't see that happening.

I can't really see Drew wanting to be bothered with another forum, since this one is well established and other message boards, which include JS,have started up. Moreover, I don't think Drew would want to go back to the hassle. You 'll be able to sympathise with that Simon!

I don't like the look of the new home page on the official site either. The photo quality is pretty poor and the blue 'wash' just doesn't work as it makes the writing difficult to read. Simon, please note that I haven't got anything against blue; it works well on this forum and they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! Anyway, it's better than pink!

Seems the 'pink' joke has landed you with a new title and a dig at this forum, Simon and Carol:
'the head of the ass kissing society on a public schoolboy appreciation forum...... '
Is that the best they could come up with?
Mind you I think it is a bit rich what lizzylad said about you not having the guts to post on their forum as they have posted all sorts of stuff about you elsewhere, some of it really catty untrue and downright low at times.Pot,kettle and black spring to mind (as well as a few others which I wont add here!) Well done you two for not dignifying their posts with a response.Im not sure if I could stay so cool!
I have been reading all of theSykes message boards for a while and I didn't intend joining one really but liked the look of this one cos its well balanced. You definitely don't agree with every thing John Sykes does as some people would have me believe. If they really hate this forum and the both of you then why do they still bother to read your message board and continue to rant on about you both so much?
I've said my bit and wont go on about it asI know this is a Sykes forum where we should not be wasting time on their childish crap.Sorry if Ive annoyed anyone by posting this. I guess Ishould have joined sambys forum and responded there as it would have been more appropriate but you see I just hate pink.
This message will likely be quoted across there anyway so it matters not.It makes them laugh what's posted on here apparently. Its good to know we bring some glimmer of joy into their sad little existence!
Keep rockin Simon and Carol. emoticon

Hi Jill,

Excuse me whilst I just remove my lips from Simon's ass and respond to your post.
Nah,don't think I'll bother;it 's much more fun playing with public schoolboys.

It's not that I don't appreciate your words of support,Jill, and you certainly haven't annoyed me but this has been going on for months and it's pathetic. I chose to ignore it.I've got a real life to live so I'm happy to leave them ranting on in their crazy, childish little cyberworld, whatever colour it may be!

(Just for the record I love pink! :cheeky: )
