Music...what are you listening to at the moment?
Thought it might be a good idea to have a space for discussing other music, other bands, recommending CDs you've heard and so on. After all, we don't listen to John Sykes's music all the time (do we? )!!

Re: Music...
Alright, here come what I'm listening lately, so I can recommend you:
- Zakk Wylde "Mafia" --> To me, the best record of Black Label Society to date.
- Circle II Circle "The Middle Of Nowhere" --> I liked more the first album "Watching In Silence" released in 2003 by Zak Stevens band but this is a great following.
- Dare "The Power Of Nature (live In Munich)" --> great to hear a official Dare albu
- Masterplan "Aeronautics" --> I like this second album more than the awesome debut indeed.
- Judas Priest "Angel Of Retribution" --> Very good record from the heavy metal masters. I like it and I'd put at the same height of "Ram It Down".
- John Norum "Optimus" --> Good new album, I like it as "Slipped Into Tomorrow" did.
- John Sykes "Bad Boy Live!" --> a lesson of how to play the classic Whitesnake tunes by the main man, don't accept imitations No more comments needed...

Re: Music...
Just I wanted to add two more great suggestions that I forgot to do mention :
- Starbreaker "Starbreaker" --> Awesome melodic metal with Tony Harnell (TNT) on vocals. One of the best releases of this year, imho. Also I Highly recommend the TNT "My Religion". To me, the best album of 2004.
- Yngwie Malmsteen "Unleash The Fury" --> much better than the previous release "Attack!", with Doogie White on vocals and well produced. Sounds like the Yngwie classic stuff.
That's all by now...

Re: Music...
What I'm listening to right now...
- usual rota of John Sykes / Whitesnake / Lizzy stuff
- Judas Priest "Metal Works", "Unleashed in the East" and "Painkiller" (gearing myself up to buy their new CD "Angel of Retribution")
- The Black Crowes "Live" (I really like live albums and this has some killer guitar-playing on it)
- Queen "Jazz" (because they are in the news right now and I hadn't listened to it in a while)
By the way, I am intrigued by Queen+Paul Rodgers: they are effectively doing a John and Scott Lizzy, ie. without the original frontman, but they're not bothered about playing Free/Bad Company stuff. I wonder if John or Scott started to play some non-Lizzy songs, would they get away with it? Probably not, the knives have been out for them for a long time. 8(

Blue Murder, obviously ;) .
And Thin Lizzy - Johnny the Fox. Would be great to hear today's Thin Lizzy do the song 'Johnny'. it's tailor-made for Sykes.

Re: Music...what are you listening to at the moment?
Soul SirkUS "World Play". If you like Marco Mendoza you'll love this! I got it from amazon.com but it will be available in the UK from 25th April to coincide with their tour. Going to see them in London on May 9th.
"Blue Murder"(thanks to Simon who spotted it in a Newcastle store and told us about it. Cheers Simon!) It's great to hear the old stuff again!
Older stuff- "Spellbound": Tygers of Pan Tang. What a blast from the past- I feel 20 again when I play this!
And even older stuff: "Frampton Comes Alive". Come on, someone else out there must have this one! Also "Now" by Peter Frampton. I am a huge fan of Frampton who has been forgotten in the UK over the years and has produced some fine material;he's an amazingly versatile guitarist and songwriter. Maybe not for those who like their music really heavy but those guitarists out there really should catch him live.If you live in the UK get down to Shepherds Bush Empire London on July 1st! Here endeth the ad- forgot I am not on the Frampton message board;sorry folks!
"Bad Boy Live!": I totally agree with Ismael about John on this one. The Whitesnake stuff played like it should sound!

Re: Music...what are you listening to at the moment?
Demo of 'Samantha', written by John Sykes and Philip Lynott.
'Out of the Silence' by Dare.
'Endless Jam Continues': Michael Schenker and Davey Pattison.
And that bleddy Amarillo song is really getting on my nerves now!

Re: Music...what are you listening to at the moment?
Hello music lovers......Here.
For those whose musical pallet(te) extends beyond twiddle and twang...you can leave now, because this recommendation won`t add another colour it,Nor will it make a talking point of significance at the local...But it`s the music that matters.
Shannon curfman??
LOUD GUITARS BIG SUSPICIONS
You ,of discerning taste, and most JS fans are!
Down load it ,copy it, just try it.
Rock ,blues...hint of C&W(not too much),and guitar riffs a teenager can play...and did
Makes Melissa Etheridge sterile.
