Marijuana

So I was thinking on the ****ter..as you do, and I started to think about why weed's illegal. I heard it's illegal because "the americans lose 500 million man hours to it every year. and they ban it, and the rest of the world makes sense of it and follows suit", it's harmful to your body, etc, etc. But Alcohol's legal when people dont show up at work because they've got hangovers and that also loses man hours, Alcohol's addictive, and it is also harmful to your body(not to mention harmful to others when you've got no control over yourelf, and you get in fights or get behind the wheel).

Do you think weed's illegal because it's not part of "normal" culture? I mean alcohol is well documented in history and many popular figures used to drink it. I mean Jesus even drank.

Re: Marijuana

For what I know, marijuana had been legal before the begining of the 20th century. If I remember correctly those were very antidrug and anti-intoxicant times in general all over the western world.

After going through loads of studies on effects of the weed I'd place it in the same category with alcohol and tobacco. Heck, studies show that tobacco is more addictive and alcohol is more intoxicating.

I believe that historically weed is just as old as alcohol, maybe even older.

World's just ****ed up.

I personally think it's because the prices stay higher when it's illegal and governments can make more than if it were common everyday goods. Also there isn't any quality control to worry about.

When it does become legal though I expect it to be taxed pretty heavy to make up for the lost revenue of their blackmarket prices.

Re: Marijuana

^ you are right. Plus if it was legal it would substitute some expensive pills (which isnt convenient to the big pharmaceuticals empire), also if cultivated in mass (weed is a WEED, grows virtualy anywhere) would solve poor countrys problems, the mass cultivation would make it possible the creation of Bio-diesel, thus making the Oil industry have a competitor, greatly reducing the prices, but guess what.. if USA invaded a country to get their oil, what wouldnt they do to stop a bio-diesel industry of happening?

Also weed would allow poor countrys a source of clothing (hemp fibers are some of the best fibers around) also it would provided food.

Weed is indeed the healing of the nations.

Alcohol was created by man, weed is a plant, was here probably before we were.

Yep it kinda is, its up to us to change that.

its illegal due to henry aslinger and the dupont corporation in 1937. both had vested interestes in the petrolium industries, which hemp is a major competitor. sensationalist stories came out of things like white women being seduced by negroe jazz musicians because of weed and one kid that hacked his family apart with an axe had smoked a joint a week previous. there were studies where they burned pounds of smoke and forced test animals (monkeys) to inhale pounds of smoke in only minutes and concluded that it was dangerous and caused lunacy. this was also a good way to keep mexicans from coming into the u.s. and grow their weeds.

the rest of the world soon followed and the u.s. has even imposed economic sanctions on other countries if they were to make it legal.

instead of speculating, just google it. interesting ****.

also the major lobbies to keep it illegal are...guess who! the alcohol industry and pharmaceuticals because if it was legal, business for both of these industries would decline dramatically

You're sure right about that. Hemp is one of the most versatile plants I know of. Paint, clothes, cooking oil, bulding material, medicinals, paper (which kinda screws the corp with the patent to make paper from trees.) the list is actually pretty long. And it is quite sustainable. The reasons are vast FOR it's legalisation. But it serves too well in the illegal drug trade of governments. And as has been mentioned there are some heavy hitting lobbyists.
I can see a day though when it is finally legal. I know I'd feel safer with a store on every corner that sold joints than I do a store on every corner that sells booze.

Here it's possible to grow hemp as long as it's THC levels are low enough. I don't know why it's not used a raw material that much, though. Maybe it has been made to be more trouble than it's worth with strict laws and inspections.

Lobbying against a competitor could one reason to keep hemp out the market. Also people have been taught that marijuana is a dangerous drug. Fortunately they are starting to question this. Soon there is going to be election for European Parliament and 1/6 of the Finnish candidates would be ready to legalize it.

I've read too many stories from people telling how their aggressive and idiotic behavior just disappered when they changed drinking to smoking so I agree it would be better to have joints rather than booze.

basically before it was illegal, back in the 1800's hemp was everywhere. i think it was in the early 1900's when it became illegal if not the late 1800's. also its not even harmful, there is not one documented death cause by marijuana. and its also almost impossible to OD on it. first, teh amount is insane (i forgot how much it was) and you would pass out before you could smoke it all. also the gateway theory is ridiculous and has been disproved time and time again. another reason is that if weed is legalized, more people will use that as medicine instead of prescription pills. so really theres no need for weed to be illegal.if your really interested on the subject, watch "the union" its a good documentary explaining everything.

also for laughs here ya go

BS. Dont even lie to yourself. Your sending smoke to your lungs, ofc its harmfull, it just is far more less harmfull than many legal drugs.

Also you got other means of consumption other than smoke in your lungs, but still is never 100% unharmful.
