2011 ban on herbal remedies

If you take supplements/herbal medicines you know the benefits they can give you, but by 2011 all this is going to change emoticon

Right now your government want to ban you from being able to freely buy supplements emoticon

if they succeed in this, you'll have to get them from the doctors clinic - and in my experience doctors know little about herbal remedies !

tried to get a vit d sup from doc prescription, they don't have any available except for 50,000 iu. I will look into this, but it seems like it would not be very profitable. Insurances don't like covering alternative meds over here. They prefer to throw all the money at pharm, and pharm can't patent foliage.... (or they would own cannabis) but apparently inc. can patent seeds.......

Do you have to get herbal supplements from a doctors in America, or can you buy them from a health food store ?

I'm not too sure how it works over there, but in England you can buy most supplements from health food stores at the moment - but probably not for much longer ! emoticon

In australia herbal supplements are sold at pharmacies and supermarkets as over the counter goods, though i have to say there needs to be more regulation of them, people think that because they're natural supplements that there isn't any contraindications or health risks...most health food store people wouldn't know all the ins and outs of them either.

i don't think they should be prescribed, but i do think they should only be limited to pharmacies however, without a doubt.

Yeah I can understand that people don't know the complications that can arise form herbal supplements, they can cancel out prescribed medicines, have effects on pregnancies and have very bad side effects when mixed incorrectly !

The health food stores we have where I live are staffed by people who know lots about what they sell, so i consider myself lucky !

I think if you are going to run a shop which sells herbal supplements it should be law that you're qualified in that field !

mostly can be purchased at grocery and pharmacy, otc. ma huang was regulated, but can be purchased from chinese med pharmacy. (it's the stuff that ephedra is patterned after, they control it because it can be made into speed or crank or meth or something)

I have not heard of further regulation, but will keep a lookout since I read this post.

Health food stores and governmentisn't interested in them because all medicines dispensed by doctor need approval by government and so far they say there are really no proen benefitts to most herbal supplements. That works in our favor.
