… i dont have a particularly big problem with world gov because nations are mostly broken down into subsections anyway. i guess the un doesnt count as a world government because its largely ineffectual and it doesnt have an army that can rival the best of the subsections. would a world goverment have an army though? it would have no nation to rival with to make it relevant. uprising and protection of its own citizens from each other is more of a policing thing that the army only deal with because theyre ready for heavy situations.
In europe we've got the EU parliment forming slowly, and it does have a lot of control over governments because its almost a trade blockade to be kicked out for denying regulations, but its regulations are more on consumer rights and product quality, things that are more relevant to trade (which is what its all about really).
there are a lot of places where during a mild drought, a rich country runs better technology on the aquaplane beneath the soil to pump out the water and the country next to it just gets completely dried up from it and everyone starts dying, so international rules seem pretty essential. i dont think americans like it though because they'd prefer the Team America World Police idea which leads to the obvious bias of countries getting ransacked for resources while the policing is done by people with a distorting media working for people with an agenda
Re: WORLD GOVERNMENT the world is interconnected as it is. the UN is world govt. not all govt need armies. they can instead exert 'soft power' which can be more effective then hard power...
… the UK just had a big scandal about our parliment members' expense claims (someone tried claiming a duck pond in the garden was something the tax payer should pay for because it was necessary for them to do their work and many others got a free house in the middle of a city on expenses when it wasnt necessary) so the idea of an international parliment for the EU has got people really pissed off round here because its a whole load of other people making bogus claims when theyre work is mostly seen as creating regulations that only cause harm. I like the direction we're working towards but it looks like its moving at a reasonable pace already over here and we need to iron out the flaws before moving on to the next steps
Yeah I don't know. I watched some conspiracy video the other day and I wanted to post up vaguely to see what came back. Seems people are so (a)pathetic that should things go down they wouldn't care as long as they (the majority) got theirs; but isn't that the way it works most of the time?
I look back in history and note, for the most part, mankinds constant attempts at empire and control, of course by those who lead. And I wonder what form the next empire will take. Will it not be obvious like cultural hegemony (soft power) by corporate giants. They shoot AK-47's at the empire after they lace up the nikes.

The united states reluctantly took the role of 'world police' fallowing the end of the second world war era. their were no other national powers absent russia who were capable of nation building. europe was completely destroyed. and china was hardly even developed, both countries were industrially and economically inadequate.
American interventionism was the only viable option otherwise world order would have likely spiraled in to a state of feudalism, anarchism or sub-modern tribalism. the bottom line is absent comprehensive intervention. be it through the russians or the americans, civilization would have declined in to a new dark age...
