Re: Come, let us reason together. . . .
Very interesting read, if we are getting into Physics I'd like to just ask not to switch the topic. But, to dig into the philosophy of mathematics. I'll ask a simple question, do you feel that mathematics develops from our experiences in reality? Do you feel that if we were to express mathematical symbols in different ways, or even our ways of doing basic counting if it were to change the way our science is done? How about Architecture, or Engineering? If it were to be expressed in a different manner, do you feel that our buildings, or structures look differently? I mean the most basic idea of a building. Not thinking of churches, or putting artistic thoughts into our structures. How about parabolas? If we used different terms to use our mathematics in everyday life. Would it change our ways of how we use numbers, or lines to express how....Oh lets just say, throw a pencil on the ground from a standing point? I could keep rambling, I'm sorry guys. These are all just thoughts I think about on a daily basis. Oh, and do you feel that mathematics could be universal? Lets say we were to go to a different planet of some alien world to us. Do you feel that we could be able to transmit our Mathematics to the aliens, and we could connect and use them in relative ways?

Re: Come, let us reason together. . . .
I guess if we are capable of perfecting math, it could possibly be universal. Of course, I do not have knowledge to the end of the universe. Anything is possible. I don't think we have perfected math, though it seems like we may be close, given the limited information we have.
I don't think changing words would change architecture or equations, and I think that such a conclusion is missing the point I was trying to make about language.
Blue is the same color in french as it is in english. A description of blue may be different because of relative comparison~ based on culture, physical surroundings (bodies of water, altitude, latitude, flora ...), folklore, heritage etc.

I like it, thanks for reading my rambling.

i think maths is something that was there all the time and was really just discovered and labelled and understood more, so its a bit universal and unchangeable i guess. with computing there's logic gates there are the ones that are used in all computers that are more boolean/binary and based on integers, but there's also analog circuits, where the value is not in whether there is current flowing through the gate or not, but how much flows through. I think when you want to get specific data, analog can be a bit of the long way round to achieving a conclusion but its probably a lot more effective at comparisons and things that are more relative to each other and arbitrary. Another world in our universe probably has the same laws of maths in effect but they might find a completely different paradigm like analog maths is easier for their brains and aims so it could look completely ****ed to us and all their basic rules would be complex to us and vice versa.
but back to math being universal, i think it is and it isnt because we're essentially going to have a language barrier making a lot of things that are the same look different.
