Do dreads require a certain personality...can you be unworthy of wearing dreads?

I was thinking that if I see someone with dreads, I have expectations of them of being chilled, relaxed, always doing the right thing, on the other hand, i don't think that's me. My question is in the title, can it be that someone does not deserve dreadlocks?
Afterall (question #2) what do dreads really mean?
(question #3) Are there people who got dreadlocks and do/did not do drugs? Why do people who elaborate their minds tend to get dreadlocks?
Thanks in advance,

i think that the fact that people get dreads as a way to not conform, yet expect people to adhere to a dreadlock stereotype are whacked.

if i see someone else with dreads most times i dont even acknowledge them. hairstyle is not a precursor to the type of person I like.

someone doesnt deserve dreads if they aren't patient. thats about all i can think of.

There's no such thing as a person being unworthy.
Dreads are hair. You make them mean what they do.
People get dreads and yes some do drugs and some dont. People who want to "elaborate" their mind have dreads either because they want the image, or their dreads mean something to them.

i generally agree with this. i will posit, though, that if you're growing locs as a symbol of something greater-whether it's cultural, spiritual, or whatever- you need to commit to whatever code you set or is set for you with regards to that purpose. for instance: the oath of the Nazarite, the Ife/Yoruba tradition, comittment to the laws of Ma'at.

Yep what everyone else said...Its just a hairstyle...People ask me questions about dreads that almost make the hairstyle to be something of a higher being or something. Its quite odd..Its knotted hair for Christs sake. emoticon emoticon

I don't believe one can be unworthy of wearing dreads, no.

while there's plenty of people who fit that stereotype, just as many don't. i can think of plenty of people who have dreads (or variations of "dreads") that have personalities vastly different from my own... the reasons behind peoples locks are so varied, wouldn't it makes sense the people are as well?

and while i have done drugs, i don't [generally] do drugs. nor did i ever do drugs to "elaborate my mind"...
