The tightening of the braces did feel kind of good... I had all 4 wisdom teeth out, but I had them put me under since my bottom 2 were impacted and they had to cut my **** open.

I just had to have four teeth removed to make room for braces. I am SO glad they put me to sleep I didn't want to see or remember any of it. I sore as hell for about 2 weeks.

That does sound awefull Kattoo, you should check with your doctor or dentist and see if they'll give you a one time rx for xanax or valium. My doctor gives me xanax for panicky situations. It's worth a shot. Just to throw my dental horror story into the hat, I had 6 molars, 4 wisdom 2 others surgically removed (cutting them out and stitched) at the same time, they were all most all impacted or absessed. The catch was I didn't have insurance so my dentist who knew how much pain I was in found a oral surgeon to come to his office and do it for me, however they couldn't put me to sleep, I could only get nitrous. They were supposed to give me valium and flexeril but they forgot the valium until it was too late. And I too am impossible to numb it was awefull. So TWO weeks later I had two more teeth absess and they had to be removed, it took 6 shots in both teeth to get me KINDA numb, they had to stop at one point with my tooth only half out to give me a shot, it was hurting so bad I was literally crawling out of the chair. I inherited very soft teeth, with bad enamel so I've had a stupid amount of work done to my teeth.

I was told I have soft teeth, too! Totally sucks. So no matter how well I take care of my teeth, I am screwed Your situation feels awful. I am sorry you had to go through that. Did the nitrous just make you loopy? I've tried it outside of the dentist, so I don't know if it has any numbing effects as well. My oral surgeon gave me a 10mg valium to take the night before. The next day-morning of surgery, I am supposed to take this other pill an hour before. I think it is called triazepam. Then there are these other pills I take. I'm hoping I just fall asleep during all of this!

yeah, the nitrous just made me loopy, it's different than doing it recreationally though because you are continuously breathing it in, mixed with oxygen of course. They do it like 20 minutes or so before they start working on you. I definetely felt everything that they were doing but I guess it could have been worse, there could have been no nitrous. And yeah, soft teeth suck! It doesn't matter what I do they just chip and break and are very prone to decay. I've had a total of 9 teeth extracted and one root canal so far. I need at least one more molar removed and a few more root canals. I try to space it all out so it's not so traumatic. I don't know if you have insurance for your son, but if you do you should look into having enamel put on his teeth, chances are he inhereted your soft teeth. They can do it to kids but not to adults, the damage is already done as adults. You'll be okay though, it sounds like the pill you're taking the day off is a benzo so that should really help.
