Question about piercings

being a dreadlock forum, i assume many of you have piercings in unconventional places (ie not your earlobes) and i have a quick question.

recently got my tragus pierced (the inner part of your ear) and after about three weeks a small red bump appeared. it's a little tender, and sometimes it looks like it's going down but it's been here for about a month now. i know this is quite common for cartilage piercings and the same thing happened when i got my nose pierced. it's pretty annoying and i was wondering if any of you guys have experience with this.

as of right now i've been soaking it with hot salt water a couple of times a day. do you guys have any other tricks that will get this damn thing to go down??

thanks guys! emoticon

don't over-wash it. if you wash it all the time, it never gets time to heal on it's own.

once or twice a day, not more!

yeah, i've pretty much had that experience with every piercing i've ever had. i think maybe some ppl are more sensitive than others. perhaps.

anyway, like arizon said, keep it clean, but dont overwash. and don't touch it.

Re: Question about piercings

yeah, i had something similar with both my nose piercings, just don't overwash, don't use any alcohol based cleansers or harsh stuff.

peace and patience should do it, if not, talk to your piercer - they'll set you in the right direction emoticon

moderate salt and water + not touching it without washing should do the trick

oh, i've found with ear related holes - wash pillow cases often, swab phones/earphones with alcohol.

I've had piercings that wouldn't heal up until I got titanium jewelry. Stainless steel can aggravate some piercings

^ boooooo, that sucks.

i'm a pretty good healer... a couple issues here and there but for me less is good in the cleaning department

ps: nipple piercing = one of the easiest heal yet
